It sounds like an umbilical hernia to me-- If that's what it is, they may repair it after you give birth sometime. I'd see you doctor of course, but I know someone who has the same description as this, and that's what she was diagnosed.
Hello moms, I need some help. Has anyone had a tender lump just above your belly button? I am pregnant with my second child and I found this lump today and it is really sore to push on. Is this normal or should I see a doctor about this. I don't remember having this with my first one so I have no idea. any advice will be helpful.
Thanks all of you for your advice and experience. My time zone is different since I live in South Korea now. I did a lot of walking and bending over yesterday because I have a 5 month old son and we were at a gathering for my husbands work (Army) My doctor is going to be out of town for a week seeing as she's going to Japan. My next doctor's appointment is on the 23rd and I will be sure to let her know about it. Anyway, what is the down time you have with having hernia surgery if you have to have it? Just wanted to know just in case I do need it and my husband have to take leave or something. Thanks every one. :)

might be a hernia. Best to get it looked at even though there is nothing that can be done till after the baby is born. I had got one when I was prego with my daughter and had surgery for it 6 weeks after she was born because it didn't go back on it's own. If you plan on breastfeeding, try to stock pile your milk because you will have to pump and dump for about 24 hrs after the surgery because of the anastisa and be warned that it can also reduce your supply too. I wasn't prepared (cause no one really warned me) about this and my supply dropped so bad that I had to stop nursing afterwards. But it probably didn't help that I've never been successful at pumping either!

UPDATE
I don't remember what my down time was after my surgery. Maybe 4-6 weeks. I couldn't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk in the beginning for at least a week if I remember right.
I agree with the Sharie. Sounds like a hernia. Talk to your doc at your next visit. There's nothing you can do about it until after the baby is born.
Good luck!
I too am going with a hernia. I have one although it is about 2 finger widths up from my belly button I can push mine back in though when it gets tender. I had it for a long time and then i got it patched and when i got pregnant again it came back :( I would show it to your doctor because if you cant push it back in it can become strangulated. If you feel sick or it is really really painful i would consider that an emergency. I am debating on whether to get it patched again but they say if it comes back the chances of it keep coming back go up with each surgery so i just dont know.
Anytime you feel a lump. have it checked out. You are the only person who knows your body like you do.
sounds like a hernia. talk to your doctor at your next visit most likely they will just repair it after you have the baby. I also had one with my first daughter. hope this helps!
Sounds like a hernia... but better show it to the doc.
Definitely contact your doctor as soon as possible just to be sure. Few of us have proper medical training, so experience has to be our guide.
My thought was actually a swollen lymph node - which is good when they're tender. Regardless, have your OB or Primary Care provider take a look and make the determination.
Good luck - hoping it's nothing to be concerned about.
