Honestly, I think it would be fine. So few people actually send any thank you notes these days.

Hi,
Do you think it's bad to send out thank you postcards instead of actual cards?
They would be still handwritten. I'm thinking about sending them for little baby gifts that DS2 receives like books, outfits, etc. I did not have a registry since I've got all the baby essentials. Also, I have tons of postcards and would like to use them.
Tell me if you think it's tacky...or not as nice as a card in an envelope.

Got them all done, thanks everyone!

M.,
I don't see a problem with it. If you know someone expects a card and envelope, I would still do that for them.
These days I appreciate any kind of thank you note since so many people don't bother to send one.

The fact that you took the time to hand write a note to express your appreciation is what's important. I think it is fine!
You say you have lots of postcards left and would like to make use of them, I say go for it!!! It is not common for people to take the time to send thank you notes today and I would be thrilled with any thank you that I received!
One thought for the future, my oldest daughter uses the photo kiosks to make post cards with pictures of her son or the entire family on them to write thank you notes etc...so it is not only nice to hear from her but THEN I have a great photo to put in my picture album or on my fridge!!! Serves 2 purposes!!
No i think this is a great thing to do. You go girl
Hi M.,
It's fine. A note is a note and the fact that you took the time to write it means a lot to most folks!
Congratulations on your little one!

I think postcards are a creative way to say thank you. It still shows your appreciation.I don't have any but I might do that next time.
I don't see a problem with it at all.
I think it's a great idea!
As long as it is personalized it should be fine. :)
Sounds just fine to me.
I think it's just fine! So rare to get a hand-written "thank you" these days...I'd be happy to get a post card or a card in an envelope. Heck, I'm happy to get an email t/y! ;)
We have even used actual Photos without an envelope. You address it and write on the back of it like a postcard. Take them to the post office and they will hand stamp them for you.. People love seeing the photo in their mailbox!
I think it's fine. I send thank you post cards often.
I think it's fine.
I think it is fine! At least you are sending them!
Good luck

Now that you are a mom- what do you plan on doing for work?
I did thank you post cards that I ordered from Snapfish with a picture of my daughter from her 1st b-day. I had a very short thing typed on the cards, like "Having you at my party made it so special", and then I hand wrote the thank you for the indivudual gift. Not only was it not tacky, but I got TONS of compliments on how cute the thank yous were! I guess it might depend on what type of postcards you have on hand that you're planning on using. If they're plain white ones, you could possibly "dress them up" some with a cute stamp/ink pad or something. Hope that helps!
