Any ideas on what to do for free with the kids over the long Thanksgiving break? Like places to take them, (maybe indoors since it may be cold), craft ideas, etc? Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

On a nice, sunny day, go out to Bob Jones Nature Center, 355 E. Bob Jones Rd., Southlake. Enjoy the last of the butterflies in the butterfly garden by the barn, visit the display animals inside the visitor's center, take a hike - - 3/4 mile loop starts off the back patio. Longer trails to Lake Grapevine exist in the adjacent Corps of Engineer property if your 3-yr.-old is adventurous. Bring snacks, water, appropriate shoes, first-aid kit, and maybe a touch of deet-free mosquito repellant. It is all free. No pets. More info & trail map at www.bjnc.org

Take them to the airport to greet the incoming soldiers one morning. The soldiers love to see kids in the greeting lines! They arrive every morning around 8:00. You can call the hotline at ###-###-#### for exact flight arrival times & terminal location. Parking is free with a pass from the USO volunteer that's onsite. It'll take about 1 hr. once you get there and it means a lot to these guys & gals.

A friend and I are taking our kids to Cabelas for the fish feedings. Apparently there is a dive show at 1:00 daily, which should be big fun for our 4 and 5 year olds. They also have an arcade style shooting range upstairs. We may play a few rounds. And for a few quarters the kids can feed the koi. Plus the kids like looking at the airplane upstairs. All and all should be a fairly cheap date and an easy way to get out of the house.http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/community/abo... (for fish info scroll to bottom of page)
