Thanks for the follow-up. I'm glad it worked out and the manner in which is worked out is truly amazing!
Does anyone really care?? There is my guideline question.
I don't know if anyone really cares. But I wanted to follow up because so many of you reached out and gave me great advice a month ago.
We ended up NOT paying a buttload of money to have a moving truck bring us a free baby grand piano off of Craigslist.
We put the word out to friends that we were in the market for an inexpensive piano. And guess what?? We got a phone call from a friend of a friend who owns a piano moving and refurbishing company. They had a free piano in their truck and wanted to bring it to our home. Oh my goodness..talk about being overjoyed and surprised! They had delivered a brand new piano to a woman and she had an older piano. The mover asked what her plans were for the old one. She said she would get some friends to move it to the garage and then try to sell it on Craigslist. He told her he would take it off of her hands that very moment for free. She decided it was worth it to have the beast moved for free and out of her hair. She told him to find a good home for it. And now it graces our home.
Oh we are so grateful to this anonymous lady for giving us the gift of music. (and to the moving company) Our 13 year old son has been playing on it constantly..teaching himself songs and will start lessons soon.
Soooo, any of you want to share a story of a random act of kindness?? Maybe something you did...or someone did for you??
Thanks for the follow-up. I'm glad it worked out and the manner in which is worked out is truly amazing!
I will tell you how we got our piano. One of the young men at my brother's church is a great piano player. He's won awards and a few years ago was on america's got talent. After church one sunday that we were visiting their church my oldest was just playing around on the awsome keyboard they had there. The young manheard my son playing and asked if he took lessons we told him he did but had stopped and we where going to try to start back up. Then he asked if we had a piano. I told him no he just practiced on a small key board and when we went to my moms he would practice on hers. THey asked if we could get a piano would we have room. We told he and his mom we would make room but we could not afford to pay for one as my husband was out of work. The very next day I got a message from his mom on FB saying that her son had been given or won (don't remember which) a baby grand and would like to give my son one of his other ones. That he had two and we could choose which one we wanted. It took a few months before we could arange for it to be moved. We where blessed with that too. My brother took one of the guys that works for him at his other job and his trailor and went and picked it up. So now my son has a piano that he loves so much. He is 14 years old and is a gifted musician and this piano was a great blessing to him.
Thanks so much for sharing your story M. W!!!!!!!
What a wonderful story! Thank you for sharing it with us...... I'm sure you will get a lot of enjoyment from that piano.
Yay on the free piano...there truely are nice people left in this world : )
I do have a quick story of random acts of kindness...my husband and I and our brand new baby (5 years ago) went into a resturant and when we went to pay, the waiter explained that an older gentelman had picked up our tab "because you looked like a nice young couple with a new baby" We were tickled at the kindness from a complete stranger. It truely is amazing what joy a simple random act of kindness can bring to others.
Thanks again for sharing the story : )
What a lovely ending to your story! I'm so excited for you!
I'm so glad to hear you got a piano after all :)
