There Are Still Nice People Out There!

While walking my daughter back from the park, she decided to kick a sandy hill. Unfortunately that sandy hill housed hundreds of fire ants! One of those times when you say, "DONT...." but it's already done. So here my poor daughter is hopping from foot to foot going, "OW! OW! OW!" as they are stinging her. There was a guy across the street working on something and he started laughing (To be fair I bet it did look pretty funny, and he couldn't hear her)...until he saw me sit her down, rip off her socks and shoes and start swiping frantically at her pant legs. Then he came over to see if she was ok.

She's tough, never cried or anything. I didn't want to put her shoes back on, her shoes were black and I couldn't be sure they were all gone, and she didn't want to walk barefoot on the concrete, so I had her climb on my back. The man kinda laughed and said he could give us a ride home if I wanted. I told him no, we weren't to far from home. He said ok, and I thanked him for the offer. Whooo we were further away than I thought, and piggy backing a 35 lb kid for half a mile is a heck of a lot harder than I thought. But, it is nice to know that people still care.

Have you had a good samaritan story happen lately?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I guess I should add, my daughter is ok. I put her in a baking soda bath to take the sting out of the...well...stings. Now they just itch really bad. Mine worse than hers! I got stung a bunch pulling them off. At least she isn't scratching like I am. :)

This happened last year, but it has stayed with me...I was at the post office and had my 2 youngest with me. They were not behaving and I was very stressed out. After standing in a long line, I went to pay and realized I could not find my debit card. I had no money in my purse. To add to my stress, my purse was a huge stinking mess, the girls were hanging on my legs asking what was taking so long, and tons of people were in line behind me. I felt like such a spaz. The lady behind me came up and said she would pay for my items. She said she knew one day I would help someone out when they needed it. It was one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me.

Awww that's nice to read.

I have one . . . right before Thanksgiving I was in the grocery store where they had a "buy one get one free" deal on carrots. They had the same deal on celery. Another lady was near me. Neither one of us wanted two of each of those items, but we did each want one of both! So she bought the celery and I bought carrots, and we met each other outside the store and exchanged! I thought that was very nice of her to offer, and she was nice enough to wait for me to check out too.

It's great to come across nice people.

Yes there are good people around. Last week I was in Walmart looking for of dog food. After a while I found it on the bottom shelf pushed all the way to the back. I had to get on my hands and knees to pull it to the front.

To steady myself, I am 59, I used the shelfing to get up. Just as I got up a gentleman offered to put the 40 pounds of dog food in my basket. I thanked him and we exchanged Merry Christmas and continued out shopping!

I recently went to the post office, large package and 19 month old in tow. I put the baby in her stroller but I only had the umbrella stroller with me and proceeded to try to carry the box and push the stroller. A little old lady offered to carry the box but it was way too heavy for me to allow that so I asked if she wouldn't mind pushing the baby into the post office. She was happy to do so.

My ex and I went out for breakfast last week. Our server came to our table and explained that a man that was a regular there had paid for everyone's breakfast in the restaurant including ours! We thanked him. Then my ex gave the amount that our meal would have been as a bonus to his cleaning person. That was a nice day. :-)

Oh wow, I hope she's okay!!

I am a firm believer in pay it forward. Getting people to simply smile and say 'good morning' or hold the door for the next person makes my day.

Recently my husband and I took our 2 year old son to the Christmas parade. The sidewalks were packed. We put him in the baby backpack so he'd be a little higher and be able to see above people's heads... didn't work that well. The group in front of us noticed we were taking turns with the backpack and hopping so the baby could see, and they all sat on the cold sidewalk so our son could get a view! We thanked them, left early, and on the way back to our car, saw a fire truck, so stopped so he could check it out (he loves big trucks!) The fire fighter was so sweet, opened it up and showed my son every nook and cranny! Made his day and mine :)

That was so nice of him. It's always nice when someone stops and offers to help you with something. I'm always amazed when I go shopping and I'm struggling to get something off the top shelf (I'm 5'3") and someone taller than me walks by and doesn't even offer to help. I always try to offer help with anyone, I hold doors open for people behind me. I don't have any specific stories to tell though.
