My daughter is turning 1 next month and I have taken the day off from work. I'm looking for ideas on things that would be inexpensive to do with my two kids. My daughter will be 1 and my son is almost 4. Something that they will both enjoy and that I can do with them. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks! Oh I forgot to add that I live in Brooklyn Center so anything within driving distance.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up going to Como Zoo and then we visited their dad at work and had lunch with them. The kids had a great time at the zoo and we took tons of pictures.

I would check out parent magazine in your local grocery store. The magazine is free & gives parents free or low cost things to do with you children. Also check in the events section of your local newspaper. I have found some free days to places of interest. Happy hunting.

Como Park/Zoo is a free (donations excepted) outing not to far for you. We live nearby, and visit often. The greenhouses are great, especially this time of year, and the animal are is ok in the winter.

I have a 4 year old and a 2.5 year old.
Ridgedale has a soft play area by Sears that is free.
Chuck E Cheese in Maple Grove is fun for those ages and relatively cheap especially if you use the coupons in each Sunday paper. Plus you get a meal.
The Maple Grove maze and pool at the community center is also very inexpensive with discounts during the day.
The Science Museum is in St Paul but is pretty inexpensive for kids with lots to do including hands on exhibits and the dinosaurs which my kids love!! Also the Children's Museum.
My kids love the aquarium at the MOA but it's kind of pricey.

We like to go to the library for storytime. It is a lot of fun for all of us. Check out the library website for Hennepin County for dates/times. It is free! You have to register for baby storytime but the others are open.
