Thinking of Botox

I never thought I would do this but I am thinking of getting Botox. I went to my dermotologist for a check up and she looks so good, she said she uses the Botox on her forhead and in between her eyes. She said it prevents the wrinkles from becoming deeper. She charges $350 for the area between the eyes which is my issue, I've actually had this for a long time. I was with my son at his derm. for wart treatments and they charge $100 less, she is younger and about two years out of residency, I do like her though, she has done a great job with my son, their office is also closer to my house. Anyway. opinions on Botox? How often do you need it once you have it done? Thankyou!

What can I do next?

Personally I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. I agree with the mom who said it's not all that different than makeup, etc. I think the moms who criticized would have to admit that they use make up and creams and probably fight with their hair to make it look the way they want. My concern for why I wouldn't do it is toxins, but a lot of makeup and hair products also contain toxins. But then, I'm also probably about 5-10 years younger than you, and ask me in another 10 years, I may give you a different answer. I would research it well, and make a well informed decision based on what you feel is right for you. GL!

I think a much better and less expensive way to go would be learning to love yourself exactly the way you are, instead of feeling like you would like to look a certain way. Good luck

Go for it, sister! People will judge you regrdless, as a Mommy you already know that. So, do what you want to your own face and if you don't like it you don't have to do it again. I've never done it, but know some women who have and they are perfectly happy with it. I know one who said it wasn't worth it to her. It seems to me to be a very individual experience.

Good luck with your decision!

I recommend trying Arbonne products first. They have an incredible Anti-aging skin care line that contains 9 key anti-aging elements and addresses after effects of sun exposure and aging -meaning they not only prevent damage, they help repair damage that has already occurred. Their REversing Gelee Transforming Lift gives your entire face a pick me up look and their REtaliate Wrinkle Filler works on the deep lines that you are mentioning and their foundation also helps with you appearance of smooth skin with a topical relaxant in it. Can you tell I love these products!
Their products are botanically based, pH correct, hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested,& formulated without mineral oil, dyes, or chemical fragrances -which are often things that cause irritation. There is also a 45 day money back guarantee so there is no risk to try it. You can go to their website www.arbonne.com for more information on their products or contact me at ____@____.com and I would be happy to talk with you and give you a sample and a catalog. Good luck.

I've earned every one of my wrinkles and worry lines, and I'm quite happy with them! The way I look at it is I'm not 20 anymore, so why would I want to try to look like it? I know there are people out there that do this to themselves, but when I stop to think about what it actually is that they are injecting into your face and the possible side effects that can and do occur (however infrequently, it still happens), is it really worth it just to temporarily rid yourself of some wrinkles or lines that probably don't look as bad to anyone else as you think they look? It just isn't something I personally would ever consider doing (I hate needles and the thought of them in my face makes me kind of sqeamish), but if you are seriously thinking of it make sure you research all the possible side effects so you can make an informed choice. Best of luck!

My older sister started getting Botox in her "number 11" (the wrinkles between her eyes) about a 1 to 1.5 years ago and loves it. It really does make the wrinkles just disappear (not immediately though). I think she pays about $300 (they charge by the units used, not area) and goes in every 6 months. You need to have it done sooner at first, but over time her doctor told her she could push it back to every 9 months or so. She loves it and it's convinced me that I'll probably do the same when I feel I need it.

However, a friend of mine uses Strivectin cream. Originally intended for stretch marks, but women found it works wonders on wrinkles. She swears it's the best cream she's ever used. It's really expensive, but less than Botox.

I know some responses told you to just love yourself the way you are, but I also don't see any harm in doing what will make you feel better about yourself. You're not pretending to be someone you're not, you're just you making yourself look better for yourself. To me, it's no different than using creams or make-up. I say just do your research, make sure it's what you want and go for it if it is what you want.

Best wishes.

Botox is a toxin. It was developed to help people with facial tics parrelize the muscles. It is also used to help mygrain headaches in extreme cases. Botox only lasts 3 months at the longest and needs to be injected. It takes at least 10 days to take effect. If you don't mind have needles in your face every three months, go for it. I would not plan anything the injection day as it can be tough emotionally.

P.S. mine is done for medical reasons. Wrinkles are the charactor lines of the face.
