Hi all,

Just curious, from the time you wake your kids up in the morning to when they are walking out the door for school, how much time is that? Just wondering if I give my kids too much time in the morning or not enough.

Thanks!

35-40 minutes. That's to eat, get dressed, pack lunches (I make them, but they pack them) and get their backpacks organized. It would be even faster if we picked clothes and organized backpacks the night before. All of them are usually ready within 30 minutes, but I build in an extra 5 minutes because one of them always "forgets" to brush their teeth.

We are up for 45 minutes before going out the door, but usually everything is done within 30 minutes. I have everything streamlined which helps a ton. Clothes, back packs, snacks are all ready to go the night before. I came up with a morning menu as well where the pick the night before what they will have for breakfast and lunch the next day. I printed a template and laminated it so I can reuse it everyday. Since using it, I have cut our morning routine by 5-10 minutes.

Andy can be out the door ten minutes after waking but usually gets up an hour before he leaves because he likes to watch TV. Genna on the other hand takes twenty minutes in a crunch. Not because she is a girly girl but because she is dramatic. She also gets up an hour before she must leave for the TV reason.

If I didn't help my daughter get dressed it would take forever, lol. She wants to play before school and can just poke around unless I am right there with her. On average it takes about 20 to 30 minutes. That is just her, I get up before her and get ready to take her to school. If she is up with me I can't seem to get anything done.

My boys take about 30 minutes. They are all teens and are responsible for getting themselves up and out. They actually knock on our door to let us know they are leaving which is our wake up call. ;-) Sweet.

I hope this helps you go guage. When the kids were in grammer school, they were dressed, ate and ready to roll in 1 hour. We have since changed our routine by preparing most things at night instead of morning. We have only 1 bathroom and 5 people. So it could become a disaster if everyone needed to shower in the morning.

Wow. I'm impressed. I mean, in an emergency we can be out the door in 5 minutes (up, clothes on, meds, brush teeth, breakfast in the car), but on average my son takes about 1 hour.

When it's just Ty and I he gets up and out the door in 15 minutes. When they both need up I give them 30 minutes so they can watch a few minutes of TV after they are completely ready.

My son needs to leave the house by 8:15-8:20. I wake him up at 7:30, but he gets UP at 7:45, soooooo....30 minutes!
(Eat, brush his teeth & hair, get dressed & backpack is ready to go the night before.)

My first grader wakes up at 6:30 and we're out the door at 7:15am. I intentionally build in about 15 minutes of fluff b/c he's slow to wake up. If he gets ready early, he can play or watch TV.

I don't want to be that 'hurry up, let's GO' nagging mom, so the 15 minute buffer helps us start the morning in a good mood.

30 minutes to and hour with dressing, breakfast, hair, teeth, backpack check and all such as that. My boys didn't take nearly as long, but then they didn't care about their hair or whether their "top was cute".

About 50 minutes to an hour -- not because they can't get ready quicker, but because I don't want them to start their day in rush mode. And they appreciate that!
