So, I am on a quest to find another deodorant that works well; I bought an organic/herbal kind from WINCO and it's ok, but I want one that works REALLY WELL and doesn't have aluminum in it. Any ideas/sources etc. Mamas?

Thanks for your help

Kiss My Face's Liquid Rock rocks! It doesn't keep me from sweating, but it does keep me from stinking. It will even take away the stink if you have already started to get a little ripe. I usually shake up the bottle before using it.

Body Satin by Melaleuca is great. Let me know if you'd like to try it. I don't sell it but I can show you how I became a customer and purchase wholesale from their website.

There is a great deodorant called Herbal Clear, that actually works, is aluminum-free, doesn't smell like patchouli ;), and isn't expensive. I even saw it at Target, surprisingly.

What is your concern with the aluminum in the deodorants?

There is an urban legend that surfaced in the 1990s about cancer being linked to deodorants, but as a cancer survivor, I can tell you deodorant was NOT a concern of my oncologist throughout 5 months of chemo and almost 18 months of follow-up care.

Wikipedia has a good discussion on it, but admittedly, they state clearly that the data can not be substantiated.

One concern to bring up with products that are "All Natural" - most aren't regulated by the FDA so if there are safety concerns, you'll never hear about them because they don't monitor them.

If you're really concerned, I'd make an appointment with a dermatologist and see what they recommend as an effective alternative.

I absolutely LOVE Toms of Maine Apricot deoderant. I've tried so many aluminum free kinds, and this is the first one that has worked- as in slowed sweat AND completely keeps any odor away.
Try it, you'll love it I promise! I already bought one for my sister who is pregnant and she agrees it works well. :)

vinegar. I was having an "odor issue" two summers ago. The more I washed, the worse it got. Learned that sometimes it's the LACK of bacteria that makes you smell more. The recommended fix was regular household vinegar (apple cider works too). I did not "wash" my pits, instead I'd shower and just let the water rinse them.

It worked almost immediately. No smell, it was great. Give it a try.

I am so glad you posted this question---I have been having problems with regular store brand stuff and feeling like I was having to rotate because my "smell" would eventually overpower the product over time.

I recently purchased Toms from Maine product already referenced. There was a product labeled for 24 hour protection. I do think it helps with the odor but does little for the wetness. I also think that when I wash my clothes the odor that was there before hasn't entirely washed out of my clothes so when I sweat with this product (and it's winter, I hate to think what summer will be like) I still notice an odor.

I am still on the hunt so if you do try some of these products (I will too), would you remember to post your experiences with those you try?

Best wishes.

My husband's skin is sensitive, and he wants a deodorant but not an antiperspirant. He also works out at the gym every day. After trying almost everything on the market, I found Liquid Rock by Kiss My Face for him, and he's VERY satisfied with it. No skin irritation and terrific odor control.
