If he is ok with viniger (sp) dab some on the bites to take the itch away.. It takes the itch out and its a safe product
Dear All,
Mosquitos love my child! Who would not :)
Sometimes he scratches them til they bleed despite my putting stuff on to calm the itchiness. Questions:
1. What products do you use to help heal mosquito bites when they bleed?
2. What products do you use to keep itchiness down?
Thank you as usual.
Jilly

You can spend a lot of money on the Aveeno bath in the blue box. Or you can go buy a big box of store-brand plain oatmeal. Grind a cup of it in a coffee grinder until it's very fine. Pour it into the running water when you give him a bath. My daughter gets terrible bites and has been known to scratch them until they bleed. The oatmeal bath REALLY helps her. And I give her Benadryl syrup at bedtime if the itchiness seems to be keeping her up.
I usually use an alcohol wipe and then put a band-aid over it...my oldest son is also loved by mosquitos...my youngest? rarely gets bit - guess he is a dill pickle!! (HAHA - I call him Pickle...sweet pickle when he's good and dill pickle when he's misbehaving!!)
I've found that wiping the bite - even with a diaper wipe, helps!
GOOD LUCK!!!
We used a little topical Benedryl, at night sometimes, I would actually have to give her the liquid Benedryl just to allow her to sleep without scratching.
Aloe Vera in a gel form helps.
Of course Hydrocortisone ointment helps. just get the low dosage from the Over the counter tubes.
Remind your child to try not to scratch, but to "rub the itchy spots".. This way it will not get so bad it bleeds..
I am a mosquito magnet. There can be 1 mosquito and I am the one it will chase all night. We used to use Real Vanilla extract with water in a spray bottle spray all over your child(spray behind his knees, under his arms and behind his neck.. It is the sweatiest and warmest areas of the bodies the mosquitoes are most attracted to. and it helped keep them away, but sometimes, if it was really bad , it did not keep them all away..
OK, after just about any bug bite I put LIQUID deoderant ... not the stick stuff the liquid roll on deoderant (I get it at the dollar store) ... with in 20 min the itching/swelling are gone/down and the bite will heal with in the next day or two depending on the bite. We use this all the time!
Dermoplast antibacterial spray. It numbs the area and offers antibacterial protection. It's the only way I can fall asleep with skeeto bites. None of the others mentioned do anything for my itch. My body is super allergic to the venom.
