Hi,
I have a 9 1/2 yr old son who can wear out a pair of shoes faster then any kid i have known(talk about all boy lol)I am very frustrated at having to buy a new pair of shoes for him every two months. He does not like the feel of hiking boots so thats out, but he is very active, loves to climb and, walking on big rocks seems to be his thing. Is there any moms out there who has had the same problem and any suggestions for a brand of shoes maybe that will last. Any help is much appreciated.

Have you ever contacted any of the shoe manufacturers to tell them that their product cannot stand up to a 9 yr olds playing. Maybe they will let your son test new products. Just a thought.

Great question...my son too....we buy shoes at BIG 5 sporting. They always have great sales. The Vans seem to be my sons favorites and also seem to last the longest.
Happy shoe hunting..

Oh i so know how you feel i Have a 7 year old son who is the same way. He will literally tear up a pair of shoes once a month. I actually am glad that he will wear hiking boots now but he even goes through those within a few month. I have learned that payless shoes are great for daddy me and Brianna but Devin i have to get shoes at a higher end store. I dont buy the best ofthe best but i do look for sketchers and Nikes on sale and have found that they do last alot longer alomost 4 months rather then one or two.... sometimes even longer. It sucks cause they cost but sales are good on them sometimes lol... Good luck abd trust me i know how you feel lol.... My daughters shoes last all year lol...F.

My favorite brand for my 9 years old son is DC. I don't get them a Journey's simply because I never find a large enough selection. We go on line and get them either on zappos.com or directly the DC website.

Good luck!

Hi,
My 8 yr old son goes through shoes like no other child I have know too. I have found that some Walmart/Payless shoes usually the shaq shoes seem to last a while for him, as well as I have found that K-swiss & Jordans also seem to last longer for him. Hope this helps....

Sears guarantees their shoes. You can actually take them back & exchange them for the same shoe (or a different shoe if they don't have the same one). I've never done it & I think I'd feel weird about doing it, but if that's their guarantee then why not!

Hi L.,
I feel for you,I have a 9 1/2 Daughter that is a total Tomboy. I have had problems with her shoes too. I have found a store that is in the Malls called "JOURNEYS", they are a great store for what your looking for in KIDS SHOES.
I buy all of my childrens shoes there. My Daughter has Shoes called DVS, DC'S, OSINIS & ADIO these are the best tough had wearing shoes for infants to adults. Our whole family has several pairs each & they stay to their word. The store "JOURNEYS" even garentees their merchandise. These shoes are as or little more expensive then Nike, Addidas or Sketchers but the quaility tells itself and Yes, You will get your monies worth.
My Daughter & Son play sport all year long as a new Sport asrises, Were off to the JOURNEY SHOE STORE. Our children Play Soccer in & out door with these shoes & when their needing a cleaning Well I throw them into my washier & air dry them they hold up great. They are like new, clean & not washier damage to the shoes at all. I truely exercise these shoes to you cause we all have them in our family & they stay to their word as a great shoe product.
Good Luck

Hi L. K
I have a 11 year old boy who is just as bad about wearing out his shoes. We always make a plan to have good shoes and play shoes but they all seem to be destroyed so quickly. I have found that the Phat Farm shoes seem to hold together pretty good. We are almost to Christmas Break and still have the same school shoes we started with in August! Some times you can get them really cheap at JCPenney when they have their big sales.

I know this is an old post but it was in the spotlight and I thought I'd share my idea. I do this with my two year old, not because she wears them out, but because she doesn't ;)

I always look for sales. I buy shoes that she will grow into when they are on clearance. I have never paid more than $8 for a pair of her shoes. Some of which were over $20 to start with.

hey there...I saw your response about how things turned out regarding shoes, etc...I have used Sears guarantee many times because my husband used to work there in SC. As long as you are exchanging for the same size...don't feel inhibited in the least to exchange the shoes if/when they wear out. (Ooops, got this one mixed up with another one! Sorry if the other part of advice posts!)
