Transferring Old Film to Digital Media

So my mother showed up tonight with all of the old video from when I was a kid. We hooked up the old projector and we have had the best night watching old movies than I've had in a long time. What fun!!! I have decided to take them and convert them to DVD. How do I do this? I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars so how do I go about this without breaking the bank? Also, I use a Mac and see that there is some programs that can work with video. I have not experimented with it yet but was wondering if any of you have edited your own videos. Thanks ladies!

What can I do next?

Costco transfers film or video to DVD for under 20$ each.

I had about 25 videos so I got the Dazzle software from Amazon.com and digitized them myself and stored it all on a portble harddrive. With the software, i can edit, add music and sound effects, titles and still photos to create my own DVD's.

You may be able to have Walgreens do it for cheap if you have those near you. Good luck! Very cool idea!

Hi T.,

We had ours done at Wolf Camera (8mm and Beta and VHS) and they did a great job and it was inexpensive. I don't shop at Walmart but I've heard they do it as well.

Regards,
M.

i had my 8mm tranfered to DVD a few years back, I think i had about 25 reels of film ( maybe 9ft per?) and it was around $100 i think, wouldhave loved to edit it but this was easier.
