Trick-or-Treating - Richardson,TX

Let me extend an invitation for you and yours to come trick-or-treating in our neighborhood, The Country Place in Carrollton (off Marsh between Beltline and Keller Springs). We have lived here for 8 years and have never heard of an incident. The kids around here love trick-or-treating! Last year we had 104 visitors at our house, and we're not even on the main loop and have a bunch of fuddy-duddys on our block. Our house and many others do it up big time! So Much Fun! Long Live Trick or Treating (and Santa Claus!)

Rockwall has Scare on the Square on Saturday, the 30th and on the 29th we have Halloween at the Harbor. It's about 20 minutes from Richardson but since you're not having much luck up there, it may be worth traveling to. I couldn't find it on-line but here's the info....

October 29, Halloween Extravaganza, The Harbor, 6 p.m. New twist on old favorite—entertainment, carnival games, face painting, bounce houses, costume contest on the main stage.

October 30: Scare on the Square, downtown trick-or-treating for the
younger crowd. Join the downtown merchants for an afternoon of fun.

I'm in Plano/Allen area and we've always stayed in our neighborhood. The houses are decorated, many people are outside, it is a social night.

If you don't want to go in your neighborhood, find a church location throwing a fall harvest that night.

We get van loads of kids that do not live in our neighborhood coming through on Halloween night. I don't care for that because it takes away from the children who do live in our neighborhood. I have separate candy bowls/treats for kids I know and live in my neighborhood and the ones bused in to get the goods, (as do most of the homes around here)

Our church does a big Fall Carnival and it's GREAT fun! :) There are lots of game booths, bounce houses, a petting zoo, the fire department usually brings a fire truck - and everyone is in costumes getting candy at all the booths and activities. It's Woodcreek Church and our building is on Renner & Telecom; just east of Hwy 190. The website is www.woodcreekchurch.com, but I'm not sure if they have info up yet. Hope this helps! :)

A lot of churches do "Trunk or Treat" which is where church members pull in to the church parking lot and open their up the back of their cars. They decorate them and have candy for the kids. Then, the kids go from car to car in a safe environment.

We've done this for the last 6 years and are looking forward to it again.

Many times the local churches will hold Fall Festivals where the children can dress up, play little games, and win candy and prizes. I'm sure they will all start advertising soon.

Last year my friend and our kids went trick-or-treating in the neighborhood.

Almost all the houses were decorated and had plenty of treats.....some even made popcorn and there was a haunted house, music and a lot of people.....it was like a big huge street party......so much fun !!!!!

At Collin Creek Mall there were some stores that had treats, but not very many.....

I'm sure there are more things to do around here, but I'm fairly new to this area too.....

I have always done trunk or treat through our church. Which is held in the parking lot of the church. It makes it easy. Especially for the smaller children. Some people even decorate thier cars. I have never had a problem with the treats or prizes.

I am am also new to Plano and am tring to find out the date and time of trick-or-treating. We live in an apartment complex and would really rather go trick or treating around the area of our kids school....Wells Elemetary but can't find the "DATE or TIME anywhere on ANY website...they jusy keep referring me to Malls and such.....VERY BORING!!!! Can someone just let us know the date and time Plano is letting the kiddos go out for trick-or-treating????? Thanks for all your help in this matter!!!

I enjoyed trick or treating growing up, but our son never has done it.
When he was little, a local mall did trick or treat events (kids come in costumes and go from store to store). It was well lit, and it didn't matter if it was raining or not. When he got a bit older, a near by town (Leesburg, Va) did/does an annual Halloween parade. Everyone would come in costumes (adults, too) and everyone in the parade (bands, floats, fire/police depts, etc) would throw candy and it was an all around great time.
We've moved since then, and it seems a lot of our new area seem to fear Halloween as some sort of devil worship and try to replace it with Fall/Harvest festivals. The festivals are fun, in an apple dunking, Thanksgiving kind of way (and they totally get around inappropriate/sexy costumes this way, too which I think is great), but it's just not quite Halloween.

Check local churches for "Harvest Fest" Carnival type fun, you play a little game & win a prize of a treat or candy. I know for sure that a couple of churches in Lewsiville have this, Also the City of Lewisville has a trick or treating at Railroad park.
