We just got a brand new puppy and so have decided to have an at home vacation since we can't leave him or bring him anywhere (still house breaking). We are going to tell everyone we are on vacation and turn off our phones and act like we are out of town. We are wanting to do all the things in the area that we do not normally do, and maybe find some new activities. Hopefully we can have all the fun of a vacation without the stress of the kids being away from home.
Looking for suggestions! Keeping in mind we have a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 year old. We have thought about the Children's Museum, Park at the MOA, sledding, etc. Any ideas of events, activities, restaurants, etc.... We are in West St. Paul but are more than willing to travel throughout twin cities and surrounding areas. (day trips)

Have you been to Edinborough Park in Edina? I guess it's a great indoor park! That's all I can think of, besides just having "movie days" inside with popcorn, and stuff like that. Have fun!!
Tuesdays are either free or discounted at MOA for toddlers if your staycation includes Tuesday. Also Edinborough indoor park in Edina and Eagles Nest indoor park in New Brighton. Tons of fun!
You could spend a day or two (or more) having a camping themed vacation. Make tents out of sheets, or even put up a small tent in your home, depending on how much rooom you may have. You could use a grill outdoors, and make s'mores and hotdogs. Go sledding, make a snow fort, have a snobwball fight. If you can, have a small fire outdoors, and you can cook campfire food that way. Telling 'scary' stories by the fire would be fun too.

Bell Museum (on U of M campus) is fun at that age. Also going swimming at a zero depth pool (try Inver Grove Heights or Shoreview Community Center). Como Zoo and the Como Conservatory.
Something free and fun is to visit Choo Choo Bob's train store on Marshall Avenue in St. Paul. They have lots of electric trains choo-choo-ing in the front of the store and six separate train tables in the back of the store. Could be good for up to an hour of play time with the kids. Plus, on the same block, is a Chinese food restaurant, a coffee shop with sandwiches, and Izzy's ice cream (though, I don't know their hours). Trains, play-time, and food, all in one block. :)
