I washed my mattress pad ( the quilted fitted sheet type thing that goes right on top of your matteress to protect it from accidents etc.).
It was big and sort of unbalanced the load.
After that i've noticed water is leaking out of the bottom of my machine when the cycle starts and the tub is filling with water.
there are no loose hoses in the back and nothing is leaking there, it's coming from underneath.
The washer is less than 10 yrs old. Top loading. I don't remember the brand off the top of my head.
CAn I fix this?
If i choose to ignore it what will happen other than a wet floor? Its in the basement on cement so no biggie.
any idea how much it might cost to have someone in to fix??

I forgot to say, it isn't gallons of water, like 2-3 cups at most.

You can probably easily fix it. Just google the type of machine you have and say water leaking. I did that for my washer when it wasn't spinning out very well. I got answers that it was a loose belt and saw a step-by-step video of how to fix it. We bought a new belt and within about 10 minutes had the whole thing fixed like new for just the cost of the belt. Incredibly easy and cheap!
UTube has lots of people wanting to show you how to do everything. Look there for tutorial videos. I bet you can fix it yourself.
Oh I have had this happen. If I remember right I had the repair man come. I have a wonderful repair man! I know he would say that anything ten years old has been a wonderful machine and it is probably time for a new machine. Be thankful! The last one I had that did this only lasted a year and a half. I was really careful about the next one I purchased. Any washer that dies after a year and a half is poor workmanship!

It's possible that since the load was unbalanced, you have water in the bottom of your machine..
If you know how to dismantle your machine - then do so and see if there's water, etc.
We have the Sears warranty on ours...they come in once a year to check the machines and to make sure all is well - they come at no charge if I have a problem as well....I had an unbalanced load that ended up vibrating a screw loose...(pillows) and it took the guy almost 2 hours to fix it....

Unplug it and take the front off for a look see. The vibration from an unbalanced load is sufficient to loosen a hose or something inside. Doesn't cost you anything to take a look. If you can't visually see what is loose then call a repairman.
I know eight years ago it was 90 dollars for a repairman to walk through your door. :(
You can try to fix it and I'm sure the heavy off balance pad caused it. I would call someone out who will not charge much to just evaluate the problem and then go from there.
Sounds like the drum is off balance and that shouldn't be too costly to fix. It will cost more later on when you have tons of mold growing inside the washer and all over the floor. And yes eventually water will damage concrete/cement.
Look to see what brand it is and Google search for a company to come and take a look.
I have a GE Profile washer and it leaked from the bottom two different times and it was just less than 10 years old and the warranty covered replacement of whatever needed fixing both times, and I didn't even realize the warranty was good for 10 years. You might check. I think I had to pay for the service call of about $50.
