US Shows Small Cyst on Brain

When I had my first ultrasound they found the same thing with my son and by the next ultrasound everything had resolved on its own. I was told by my doctor that with the better technology these days they are able to find more but most of it things they are finding out seem to be more common then they had thought, such as they cysts, especially in boys.

It is possible it will shrink over time. I am a scientist and believe it or not I have learned that quite a few children are born with cancer. But breast milk has been proven to kill cancer, I have all the scientific papers that show how this was proven. Anyway, make sure your daughter breastfeeds her baby.

Plus I did some research with something similar to breast milk that is made from whey proteins, I was able to watch this also kill cancer cells under a microscope. It is now availalble to the public but not many know about it.

The same exact situation happened to my husband and I. Tell your son and his wife that it is much more common now days because the technology to detect is much better- lots of babies probably have had the same problem, but the technology wasn't there to detect it. We were sent to a specialist, but at least a month later and by then the cyst was completely gone. The rest of the pregnancy went just fine and we now have a healthy,happy three month old. the baby will be fine i'm 26wks pregnant now and my baby also has the same thing i went to a specialist and he told me over time it should go away by the time i am 30wks along when i first heard it i cried until i got into the specialist he said this happens to 50% of babies and that its just not noticed on most us and i go back in feb. to find out if its gone away he said this will most likely not cause any down syndrome or anything like that i believe she will be fine and that baby boy will be very healthy hope this works i'll let you know what happens in feb. good luck

I am pregnant with our 2nd daughter and she as well has a 3mm cyst in the fluid in the brain.
The doctor said 99% of them dissolve before they are born. If they are born with them like our doctors son was, they watch them for a while, his went away in a month. 1% chance for Downs , 1% chance for cancer if they never dissolve. Our amnio showed no Downs and as for cancer we are thinking positive and this cyst will be gone before she is born. I was 19 weeks at our ultrasound (22 weeks now) they are going to do another ultrasound in 2 months just to check the size if it's even still there. I worried for 2 twos even though the doctor said he was NOT worried at all. They just see more things now and many fetus's have cyst that go away. Tell your son and daughter in law not to worry. It's normal. I do sometimes think about this cyst still being there but then I try not to think about it and know it will be gone. Let me know how things turn out if you have time. I'm just curious what her doctor says since we are in the same situation. They all have different opinions.

When I was pregnant with my first child, the ultrasound showed a chlorid plexus (sp?) cyst on her brain. The doctors scared us by recommending we see a genetic specialist, because the cyst could be a sign of downs syndrome. They even actually said we should do this so we could decide what to do in case it was downs syndrome. As if we would actually even consider terminating the pregnancy. Since terminating the pregnancy would never be an option, we opted not to see a genetic specialist. We had to go for more ultrasounds, too. It turned out to be nothing. The cysts went away on their own and she has never had any problems.

I don't know if your grandchild's is the same type of cyst or not, but if it is, I hope my story helps.

I think the doctors are just trying to cover every possiblity to avoid missing something, but in the meantime, they scare us to death!!!

This happened to me with my 1st child. My 1st ultrasound showed a cyst on the baby's brain. The doctor explained to me that it was nothing to worry about. He said that anybody could have a cyst on the brain at any given time, and that they usually just go away. I had to go back at 28 weeks for a follow-up ultrasound and it showed that the cyst had disappeared. The exact same thing happened to my sister-in-law. So try not to worry about it, I think it must be fairly common. I hope all goes well! B.

Before my son was born, he too had a small cyst in his head. It is pretty common, so much so that sometimes they are not even discovered. When he was born, he had a little bump (he had a lot of hair, so you could not see it, just feel it). He is perfectly healthy. Good luck and congrats on being Grandparents!

My 26wk u/s showed a small brain cyst with my first baby. It never caused any problems and went away on it's own. Best of luck.
