Vaccuum Recommendation

Easy question here! We have a Dyson, and it's been good - just has outlived it's life and is not worth repair. We have a dog (Austrailian sheperd / border collie mix.. VERY HAIRY) and two small kiddos. Needless to say, we vaccuum ALOT. Can anyone recommend a vaccuum they love that is good with pet hair? Considering another Dyson, but open to other suggestions as well... Thank you!

I have a Dyson and will buy another one when this one dies. I had an Oreck before the Dyson too. I liked that it was light weight but if anything gets lodged in there it's a pain kn the butt to take the Oreck apart. I foundry self in the Oreck shop more than a few times with it.

We have a Dyson downstairs and a Oreck for the upstairs. I love that the Oreck is light weight and I can easily vacuume under beds but the bag needs to be changed. I like the hose attachment on the Dyson but hate the weight of it and emptying the carriage of dirt. Emptying the dirt out is probably easier than changing the bag though.

If my Dyson died today (it's about 8 years old), I'd buy another Dyson tomorrow!

I like Shark & Bissell's that are lightweight (Bissell Lift Off I found too heavy) and easy to clean, have great suction & are more affordable - because of pet you might want to stay with Dyson - but pay for the warranty - I've been told it is a godsend for Dyson owner especially.

We have a border collie/Brittany spaniel mix, two cats and two boys. We bought this one and have been very pleased with it. Sign up to get their emails and mailers and you'll get a 20% off coupon. The one from BB&B has a spiffy car cleaning kit and spinning tool that you can't get if you buy it elsewhere (I found that out by reading the reviews on Amazon.com). http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/shark-reg-r...

We have been happy with our Shark Navigator. We couldn't afford the Dyson and needed something that would keep up with a child and two cats. It's done it's job, and is such an improvement over our old vacuum that died.
