VHS To DVD

I offer "video transfer to DVD" services as part of my business (Unforgettable Slide Shows). You can get all of my services and pricing info at www.unforgettableslideshows.com. I charge $25 per 2-hour tape. This is for a straight tape-to-DVD transfer. If you want DVD menus and chapter breaks, I charge $50 per 2-hour tape. This is the same pricing you will find at places like Wolf Camera, etc...

If you have alot of VHS tapes you want to transfer to DVD and want to do it yourself, I recommend going to Best Buy and purchasing a high-end DVD Recorder that will accept both analog and digital inputs. This way you will cover all your bases (i.e. if you have miniDV tapes you want to convert to DVD, etc...)

I also recommend NOT purchasing a dual VCR/DVD player/recorder as has been mentioned on this thread. I have personally known these "boxes" to play the transferred VHS-to-DVD recording on only the box that did the recording. Just beware. Cheaper is not definitely not better in this case.

Give http://www.gotmemories.com a go, $4.99 a tape if you've got over 10 tapes. They are local in Tempe. Not worth even buying a machine at those rates, plus if you've got different formats like the small camcorder tapes, you have to have a camcorder to plug into the recorder.

you can do it yourself or you can go to walmart to the photo center and they can do it or in sams club i think they do it too

I used Wolf camera in the past and they were about $30.00 per DVD. Try Walgreens also I heard they do a great job also

I bought the VCR/DVD Recorder from Wal-Mart for only $130 last Christmas. (I think they are cheaper now.) We used it to transfer my hubby's old home videos (that had originally been transferred to VCR from 8mm) to DVD. It doesn't improve the quality any, but it doesn't take away from it either. It was REALLY easy to do! And I love the fact that I can watch DVD or VCR with only one remote!

There is a way to do this yourself. Go to Walmart and buy a dual VHS/DVD player. Make sure that the DVD side also records. From there you put in the VHS and then play and record on the DVD side.

We are actually doing this at work to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Texas. It's one of the ladies in the IT Department that owns the machine to do it. The charge is $20 for 1 tape / 1 DVD. $10 per additional tape and $5 per additional DVD copy. I believe it holds 6 hours of video on one DVD.
