Hi All,
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to transition over to a complete organic diet? I am not sure where to begin. I also woudl liek to try and be as green in household products and lawn products as well. Also are there green, or organic clothing?
Please let me know if you have done this, ow you started and what you continue to do.
Thanks,
K.

Hi K.. I'm in to process of doing the same thing. If you want to drop me an e-mail to let me know what area you are in I can give you some ideas. I have a group of friends who are all working in that direction or have been organic/green for a long time and we get together & share the info with others.

Hi. I can help you on the househols items and turn you onto several websites for the food and organic clothes. I have turned converted my household to natural cleaning products and I can not tell you the difference it has made just in the allergens in our home. Private email me if you would like to chat more about this. There is too much information to do in an email.

hi, K.!

Please, check out this site: www.granolachicks.com for other "green" moms. :) I've gotten some great home-cleaning ideas on here and learned how I can contribute to a better world without having to be a "hippie". lol

Anyway, the best products, I can think of, to clean with are baking soda and vinegar. I use vinegar to clean the windows, and it does a FANTASTIC job; better than Windex.

On other things...If you use disposable diapers, Seventh Generation diapers are earth-friendly. I am looking forward to planting our garden of veggies and some fruits. My kids are SO excited about this, too. It'll be healthier for us and a great learning experience for all of us. I am also cleaning out my garage and making plans for recycling bins. I want my kids to be better citizens and earth-friendly.

Anyway, Granola Chicks has some really great ideas for you. If you ever need any earth-friendly party favors, let me know. :) Take care!

Oh my gosh, I second the Vinegar and baking soda thing!!! WOW! You really won't believe how well they work! I just got a great book called "Green Housekeeping" that has MANY great cleaning ideas as well as info about home pollutants that you simply don't think about. I've found it very difficult to maintain an organic diet here (Texas) without breaking the bank because there just isn't a ton of organic produce to choose from. However, I have found that Costco actually stocks a lot of orgnic products which helps.

Good luck!

I'm also converting my lifestyle. I have learned a lot just reading the posts here. I didn't know there was a such thing as organic clothes! I also find it hard to get organic food in my area of Texas. As for my products, I didn't want to make a lot of products and I don't like the way vinegar smells. I use products from a wellness company. All of their stuff is safer and better for the environment and your health. They have everything from cleaning product to hygiene (deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, vitamins)You can go to www.kermitisgreen.com and view some of the issues we are facing today. Drop me an email if you want more info. I use their products and I love 'em. Hope to hear from you soon.
