Hi ladies,
well i know what I'm experiencing is from menopause but this is the 23rd day of my period and I had really huge blood clots just today. Ive been checked and I'm fine. Just want to hear from other women that are going through something similar. Also I cant' take any hormones to ease my symptoms but can anyone suggest something that is natural that they know helps the heaviness of the period. I would like to hear from women that have actually taken a product that they know eases the symptoms. I know there is a procedure that can be done, something oblation or something like that. I want to avoid that if I can.

The clots were just today not the whole time.
Thank you

If this goes on much longer - go see your doctor.
It might be menopause related or it could be a sign of something more serious.
My friend's periods got longer and longer over a 6th month time frame until it was almost continuous and she was getting anemic from all the blood loss.
She thought it was menopause related, too.
Well - it was a beginning symptom of breast cancer.
She's fine now - has been in remission for over 15 years, but if she tried to ignore it for much longer, the outcome would not have been so good.
So it very probably is nothing to worry about, but don't put off having a doctor check you out.
Sooner is better than later.

I have been having very irregular cycles too. Very heavy for 10 days then only 10 days off and back to a very heavy cycle again. My doctor said I am pre-meno too. She did say most often times the cycles get lighter and longer between but not always.
She did have all sorts of tests done on me to make sure everything was ok. It included an Ultra Sound and a ton of labs. Some of the things she was checking for was anemia and to see if I was low on iron b/c of the blood loss.
My doctor recommended an ablation and I told her I was not ready to take that step. For now I am just letting my body to what it's doing.

I haven't gone through menopause yet, but this has helped me tremendously for my period. I drink red raspberry leaf tea. It's kind of icky tasting, but they also have it in capsule form.

It helps balance hormones and is good for any woman in any stage of life to take. It's good for periods, pregnancy, and menopause. It lessens or gets rid of mood swings (it takes away my PMS, which can get pretty extreme). It lightens bleeding for my periods/post baby. It gets rid of my cramps just like taking meds. It helped me conceive my son by balancing my hormones. It's AWESOME stuff. I am definitely going to be taking it when I'm dealing with menopause because of how it balances hormones, helps with bleeding, helps with cramping, and helps with womanly stuff in general. I've never used anything natural that has worked as well as this stuff.

My only other question is, are you sure you are going through menopause? It almost seems like you might have PCOS, which is something my sister has. She has really irregular periods - sometimes only once or twice a year, but when she has them, they are usually really long and heavy and she passes clots - more than normal. She has bad bleeding.

No matter what, though, I highly, highly recommend you look into taking red raspberry leaf tea (herbal). If you can, you want to drink it every day, three times a day (or take the capsules that much) that will give you the most benefit.

Good luck!

Did your OB tell you the bleeding is due to menopause? Short of a diagnosis, this is nothing to mess with. If this isn't due to hormone imbalance, it could be anything from fibroids, ovarian cysts, or worse, cancer. I wouldn't recommend taking any sort of supplements until you know what is going on. Hormone supplements whether synthetic or bio-identical can cause more problems if you don't know what you're doing.

Go back to your OB and get an exact diagnosis and blood workup so you know exactly what HRT you specifically should use.

Also, keep in mind, heavy bleeding for more than a month can bring about many other non-female related complications. So do not wait to get help. You may need iron replacement. But even with this you need to be careful. Especially if you are prone to blood clots (genetically speaking). So just see your OB to be sure.

First of all, I want you to go easy on your body. You need to love your body and what it is going through. So be happy that it is regulating like it should. Some people go through menopause like a breeze and some don't. That would be me, too. I'm with you - I'm all about doing things without the aid of drugs or cutting something off.. LOL..

I take a nutrition supplement that is formulated for women. It has the good soy in it. It helped me with my hot flashes, balancing of hormones, and hopefully my periods would end soon..

Email me directly if you want more information on that product I take. I love the taste of it, too. It has a sweet almond flavor. It comes in powder form, mix with water or milk, then drink it. I do this 2x a day.. and it's good for you.

Remember: be kind to your body.. work with it.. LOL

I have never heard of elongated periods due to menopause. For me it's been just the opposite. WHEN I actually get one, they're short. They've spread way out. I have the usual hot flashes, mood swings, weight gain, sluggishness, decreased libido. I bought a packet of supplements from GNC designed for symptoms. When I take them consistently, I DO notice a difference, but I slack off all the time.

Still, 23 days with clots? To me that suggests something different. I would probably call the doc back.

:)
