I am on my second child and Im only 6 weeks along tomorrow. I am having this weird feeling in my stomach almost like a kick or something. Im not having any cramping, but I do have breast tenderness which is normal. I didnt feel anything like this with our first child. I know it cant be kicking though because the babies not developed yet. What could this be?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I made a doctors appointment to go in and see whats going on. I talked with another mother lastnight and she said also with her 2nd child she felt things as early as 6 weeks. So I will find out at the docotrs office I guess.

I am about six weeks along too and feeling the same thing! I have a 5 and 6 year old so it has been a LONG time since I was pregnant...maybe it is just everything moving around in there making room. I wish I could give you a better answer!

Shannon,
With my second I felt a lot of movement way earlier than with my first. I think it was at about 6 weeks. I would go to the dr for peace of mind though.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

After having the first you are more aware and start to feel the baby a lot sooner. That movement in your belly, they call it "flutter". I felt it as well at 6 weeks with my second and third. It's a little irratating at times, but the baby is just fine. If it will make you feel better, call the advice nurse or set an appointment.

I have had 3 girls and each pregnancy was different. I use to get ghost feelings of kicking when I was PG with my third girl. I do not know if this is normal for you but it sure was with me. If you are having real concerns, bring it up with your Dr. and see what he/she may have to say. It could be the same as what I was going through or it could be something that needs to be addressed.

Good Luck

I had the same thing happen to me. When I talked to my doctor she explained that everything is moving to make space for the baby. She said that the early movement that you feel is your bowel moving out of place. It's the same for when after the baby if born. I don't know if you still felt phantom "kicks" after your first child was born--that's your bowel moving back in place.

Hope that helps!

During my second pregnancy I felt what seemed to be a kick. The way the doctor had initially dated my pregnancy, I thought I was at 12 weeks and the books said some people feel it after 16 weeks. Get this, after ultrasound they re-dated me (and it was acurate) which put me at only 9 weeks along when the kicking started! It seems crazy but these were not isolated events. I felt "kicking" throughout the pregnancy from that point forward. In fact during the third trimester he was quite the kicker.
Friends told me that it's often easier to feel these things after the first pregnancy and I am a very small person so it's possible I'd notice more than someone else. I think even during the "poly-wog" stage, the baby does move around and this must be what we've felt.
I'm just as curious to see what others post to you on this one!

From what I heard, mothers don't feel babies until they are 4 months along. The only possible explanation for that, twins, I wouldn't know, never had any. As you know, not all pregnancies are the same. Your body is going through the normal changes of pregnancy. Don't know what to tell you.

I had a feeling like that that lasted around 24 hours, after I had had 3 children, and wasn't even pregnant. It felt just like a baby moving, but it was always in the same place. When it went away, I had to conclude that it had just been gas:-)

I felt the second one a lot sooner too. I think most of it is because we know what to look for. We know what a stirring or kick is. Each pregnancy is different. I know that the second one I showed a lot sooner and I looked like I had twins by the end of the pregnancy... everyone was expecting me to go into labor a month early!

Your body isn't as tight as it was the first time and the uterus kind of goes back to that memory of being pregnant (especially if they are close pregnancies). Of course if you feel weird about it, trust your instinct and ask your doctor to take a look. It doesn't hurt and that's what they are there for.

Oh, and the other thing that was difficult with the 2nd one is the pressure pain down in my private area and inner thighs... I couldn't stand or sit for long periods, it was very annoying.

Congrats! I'm also on my second and am 8 weeks along. I've also noticed that I can feel things kind of moving around on my abdomen which I don't remember from my first pregnancy. I figured it was partly because I'm just more aware of whats going on with my body.

My guess is its probably gas. You will notice and pay more attention to bubbles, kicks and gas now that you are pregnant again. You are very in tune and aware of what is going on with your body the second time around. When I was pregnant with my second child (who is 10mon now), I swear I thought I was feeling him kick me at 7wks.

Hi S., Congratulations of your new pregnancy. This pregnancy will be a little different from the first. Your uterine muscles were stretched with your first pregnancy and are less resistant, therefore you will feel more things. Your uterine wall is "looser" not tighter so you will simply feel more. You may just be feeling movement of the fetus. Kicking itself will not be felt yet, but by ten weeks the fetus will be fully formed externally. Legs, arms, feet, etc. So expect to feel more movement with this pregnancy. Good luck and may God bless you with a beautiful, healthy, active baby. God bless you. p.s. Good idea to go see your doctor.

I know with the second baby everything is intensified....maybe its just your body growing and moving....you can feel your second one earlier than your first but not that early.....

I read that women who are pregnant with their second child are more "sensitive" or aware of the kicking because they know what it's like already. Eventhough you didn't experience that for your first child, it's possible that you have a heightened sense of awareness about what's taking place in your womb.

First of all I think it's great that you made a Dr appt! Best to cover all your bases. I think that it's probably both an awareness of what's going on as well as gas moving around. After my daughter was born via c-section, I could have sworn there was another baby in there if I hadn't known better. This lasted for quite a few months! Congrats and best wishes to you in pregnancy and schooling!!!
