Weird Viral Infection/Pneumonia Thing Going on Kids' Arms

Hello Moms,

My kids got a rash on one arm 3 weeks ago, had a viral infection (I think) that turned into walking pneumonia, went through a course of amoxicillin, coughing and runny noses have cleared up, they are still a little tired, but guess what?

Now their arms are hurting? The same ones that first had the rash on them. It is not a skin pain from the rash blistering or something. There is no swelling or rash that I can see. They both complained at separate times that it hurt to bend their arm and that their arm hurt. They can't describe it well to me because they are only 5 year olds. I called the nurse and she never called back. Is this phantom pain left over from a weird virus that started in their arms?

This is really weird, but doesn't seem too serious. Any ideas? Thanks,
M.

So What Happened?

Hi Moms,

I took the kids in to the doctor today. He checked everything out and could find nothing wrong other than residual stuff from their last illness. Thank you!

I would take them in to see the Dr. again...just to be sure.

My cousin's daughter was sick when she was 5...she had a fever, tired and complained about joint pain in her arms and legs. They took her to the Dr. and it turned out she had a rare disease called "rheumatic fever"...she is fine but had to take penicillin until she was 21.

you just never know...and it doesn't really hurt to get things checked...

You need to see your doctor for a diagnosis. Joint pain can occur after the flu. Probiotics (they make them for children) are always a good idea, especially after a course of antibiotics. I would support their immune system. Coconut oil encapsulates viruses while boasting the immune system. You might want to give them coconut juice/water and rub coconut oil on their arms (as long as they are not allergic to nuts). I would also cut out all sugar from their diets.

Holy cow, that actually sounds like shingles. I'd find another doc. All my best.
