What Are You Doing for Father's Day?

My mil and I rented a pontoon boat for the guys(we are going too) and I got him a gift card to bass pro shops to get all the fishing gadgets he needed!!

Daughter (19) and I are still trying to figure out the dinner part.

She painted a canvas for him. We have several pieces of her artwork framed. She's also planning to play her violin for him because he loves listening to her play.

I am splurging on one of our most favorite bottles of wine .... 2011 Caymus Cabernet.

We'll probably cook prime rib or tenderloin. He is the griller of the family and I don't want to ask him to grill the steak.

I've been asking hubby all week what he wants to do. we go to the zoo on mother's day.

he has said nothing. I told him we'd take him our for sushi, but he said he'd rather go out for breakfast. We most likely will just do a family movie. Hubby likes that a lot.

We are going to church and then he will pick up his daughter and get lunch and spend some time with her. Then he will be back home for dinner. I'm going to buy some steaks, my homemade mashed potatoes, cooked carrots, corn and rolls. He said he doesn't want anything for Father's Day and because we are paying an attorney for guardianship for his disabled daughter, money is tight. I think I will have my 2 kids make him a card and say some nice things to him and I will write him a letter about how great of a dad he is, even though his ex is causing major problems between him and his daughter right now. Not the ideal Father's Day I would want for him but it's a tough time right now so we are doing the best we can.

We will be camping so I am sure he will be up early and out on the boat fishing with our oldest son :)
Mid afternoon he will be by the lake relaxing with a drink in hand and for dinner we'll have steaks and corn on the cob, back out on the water for more fishing and end the night with a nice fire!

I am going to purchase giant steaks that we will grill! Great bottle of wine and watch Game of Thrones! He says he cannot wait!

And actually that night I am attending a fundraiser at an old Nightclub from back in the '80's. It closed a long time ago, but they are reinventing it for this 1 night!

My husband is out of the state visiting his mother. He hopes to be back early on Father's Day to spend time with our kids but it isn't certain. If he is they will probably play games together and we'll grill for dinner.

We don't make a huge deal out of the day and this visit was planned before we realized what weekend it was.

i'd actually prefer to do something here (going out on Big Days is usually a restaurant nightmare), but the symphony in which my older son plays bass is having a concert in baltimore, so we'll drive up to the city for that, and then brian is taking us out to dinner. it'll be nice!

My husband will hang with our son in the morning, then my son has a baseball game,then my husband will go do somthing with his dad, and me and my son are going to the CWS that night.

Spending the afternoon at the lake and bbq.
