What Could Be Wrong? - Liberty,MO

So, i am having some health issues and went to the doctor and had a bunch of blood work and and EKG.

My symptoms are: extreme "hot flashes" that can last more than an hour, extreme sweating even when i'm not doing anything or it is cold, fatigue, frequent BM's, what the doc called "myoclonic jerking", occasional rapid heart beat or feels like heart skipping, heat intolerance, and i'm either super hot or freezing cold all the time, no in between.

Blood work all came back negative for thyroid issues. I am almost 4 months post-partum-just had twins in november and my oldest will be 2 years old on the 19th. I've been having these issues for about 2 months. I know we arent all in the medical field here, but any ideas? any of you have these issues or someone you know?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

blood work all came back normal, no thyroid issue. doc thinks it's mainly hormonal and will subside on its own. the "myoclonic jerking" is getting worse so he suggested a neurologist. we'll see how that goes.

I would suggest having blood testing for Celiac to rule it out. Before I was diagnosed I could sweat through two sets of bedsheets a night, had horrible stomach issues, fatigue and more but I won't go into it here. Pregnancy can "trigger" celiac. Check out www.celiacdisease.net for more info. or feel free to send me a message.

It could just be a hormonal imbalance but have you checked your blood sugar levels. Also, be sure to eat well-get plenty of protein and no sugar. Hope you get some answers soon.

If it's not thyroid related, the hot flashes make me think menopause or something hormonal is going on.
I'd see what an endocrinologist has to say about it.

Have you ever looked at food intolerance? Most likely would be gluten and lactose (wheat and dairy). Try cutting them both out (read labels!) for a few weeks, then if you start feeling better, slowly introduce one at time to see if it affects how you feel.

I'm like that with my menopause. It pretty much sucks. Black Cohosh helps eliminate and alleviate tho. Try it.

DId they do an indepth thryoid panel or just the basics? Sounds to me like it needs to be more thorough.

Huh - well it sounds hormonal to me with the extreme temperature fluctuations. But did they do a cbc (complete blood count) when they did the thyroid bloodwork? If not, I'd insist that they do one. If they don't find anything wrong I'd wait another month and if you're still experiencing symptoms with the same frequency and intensity, I'd get a 2nd opinion.

Sounds just like me and I have hyperthyoidism and graves disease. When my endo did blood work for graves it came back neg. too but she said she just knew I had it and did more test and found out I did I have it. As long as I'm on the meds I dont have any of those problems. It could be like someone else said a gluten thing,Celiac disease. Could be alot of things but just saying you explained me to a T and this is my problem. Hope you figure it out and start feeling better!!

don't know if its true but some one told me once that say the scale for ok thyroid levels is anywhere from 1 to 100 but in actuality anything from 1-50 can cause you different symptoms again don't know if this is true or not and i don't know what the real scale is but are you near an extreme for the thyroid and techinically they are saying you are fine but you are so close to not fine that you feel it?
