What Do I Do with This?

This weekend I organized "the cord drawer" this morning I pulled out a cord I saved from an old DS thinking it would work on new DS - it doesn't. Then I realized, I have many cords left over, etc.
What do you do with them? I hate to throw them away.
Does Best Buy recycle/take them like they do batteries and cell phones and other things we don't want in landfills?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

They are currently coiled in ziplock baggies and labeled (if I know what they go to) - LOL. I hear you all - save 'em for that rainy day.
Thanks!

You might try taking the game system cord to Gamestop and see if they will give you any store credit for it. It may not be worth anything, but then again, people lose and damage parts like that too, and it may be worth something to someone.

Hi C., my guy is a computer engineer (as well as my oldest son). Cords, cables, wires, etc, are his crack, teehehe.

He lovingly coils them up properly, uses a Sharpie to write exactly what they are on a piece of duct tape to hold them together, and puts them in one of four clearly labeled plastic bins in the garage.

So, no, we NEVER throw ANYTHING related to electronics away, cuz you just NEVER know.......sigh.

I was at Goodwill yesterday - they had bins and bins of different cords all labeled and organized. I think someone would appreciate a DS cord, having likely lost theirs way back when, or wanting to keep one charger at mom's house and one at dad's house. I say donate.

I store them in ziplock snack bags (a few are larger and have to go in sandwich bags or quart bags) and keep them in a drawer. As soon as I toss one, I know it will be needed a day later!

If you are absolutely sure that you don't need it, you could try to sell it on eBay. There's probably someone out there needing one right now.

As for us, we just keep our "extra" cords in a box because we know that as soon as we throw it out, we'll need it...

We have a shelf in my sons closet that is the 'go to' shelf when someone needs a cord, lol. I know how you feel. We have had this pile of cords for about 2 years, and just this week we found one that fit an old MP3 player one of the kids dug up. Sorry, I couldn't answer your question, but we just held onto them.

Ah, Theresa N, count your blessings. My network engineer husband spent YEARS with giant contractor bags of cords on our (finished) basement floor. He just created about SIX (smaller) plastic bins with different types of cords. At a certain point, you do have to let go....

if you know what they are for, sell them on ebay. If you don't want to take the time to do that? then donate them to charity. They can use them.
