What Do You All Do for Valentines Day? Ideas?

Valentines is right around the corner! I just remembered!
I know, for some its dreaded, for others its anticipated.
I was just wondering what you all do as a couple, as a Spouse, as a Parent, or as a Family?
Besides the usual romp in the hay....or those stereotypes... what do busy tired parents with children do?

For us, my daughter especially likes to go out to dinner with us... it's one of her favorite holidays. And we celebrate as a family and it's nice. But other than that... we don't spend a lot, because of 'budget' of course, especially nowadays. So I was wondering about other 'traditions' that others do, or other ideas?

thank you all in advance!

What can I do next?

I have three kids and we stay home and have a party =} The meal consits of anything that we can cut into hearts! Hamburger, sandwiches, home made chips, melons, and so forth. Then we serve it all on red and pink plates and cups! You remember all that silly stuff that you had in class when you were in elementary school? We bring that home and enjoy the holiday as a child would, its great fun to see the kids faces during the evening fun.

My favorite Valentines Day was a few years back it was without the kids, but you can include them if you choose so. I hired a chef to come into our home and prepare and serve a romantic, candle lit, intimate, dinner. I spent about $300. (a splurge for us) You could cook with the kids and have the kids serve or just order in and dress up the table for fun. If you would like the name of the chef I used just let me know. I would be glad to share.

For the last few years, I've made it a tradition to cook an extra special dinner for us at home to celebrate as a family and I decorate the home a little with Valentine's Day party decorations. I also have the children make special Valentine's Day cards for their dad. Last year it involved cutout red and pink tissue hearts pasted on white cardstock and a photo of each of them in the center.

Even though my husband and I have agreed not to purchase gifts for each other, we do exchange cards and we sometimes may break the "no gift" if we see something that is within our budget and we know the other would really enjoy receiving. Honestly, though, I'm just as happy not receiving a Valentine's Day gift if it doesn't involve diamonds, champagne, or a lovely bunch of flowers, most of what he has gotten ends up getting donated. I mean, really, how many pink stuffed bunnies does a grown woman need anyway????

Well we probably won't do much this year; last year we didn't have a 7 month old lol. I was only 4-5 months along. I honestly don't remember what we did last year either. My husband does little things all year so I don't have to focus on just one holiday to be told he loves me, and the same goes for me to him. This year I'd like to do something but who knows, we're broke.

I was thinking that this year I would have my daughter help me make a nice valentine for Daddy. She loves to do crafts, so I think it'll be a fun little project for her and I.
I might even have her help me make a few little decorations for the house a week or so before V-Day (construction paper, glue, and glitter, what more do you need?! lol).
Other than that, my husband and I usually just exchange cards (I always make one, my husband buys from the store though, and then writes me a nice long note in it).
