When you and your kids are sick?? My son is 20 months old and me and him are both sick!! My husband works and I'm a SAHM. My son and I don't feel like doing much so my question is what do you do when you and your kids are sick? Do you just watch tv all day or what? Because we don't feel like running around and playing we just want to be couch potatoes but I feel guilty just having us watch tv all day, even though my son is content with it. We don't watch much tv we are usually playing reading ect so its definitely not normal to way h this much but I just don't know what we should do. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

My 2 year old has never been sick <knocks on wood> but recently I was sick with a horrible head cold. I just laid on teh couch all day and she watched tv. She would tell me stories and talk to me, ocasionally I could read a book to her. Thats pretty much all I could do.
Don't feel guilty.

Don't feel guilty, a couple of days of watching tv isn't going to hurt anybody, it's not like you do it all the time. Just get your rest so you can feel better and get back to playing again!!

No guilt needed girlfriend. We limit tv time as well but when we're sick...it's a different story. There's a reason neither of you "feel" like doing anything. Your body is telling you it needs you to rest. When we're sick our bodies need to just chill and relax to recoup. The same goes for your son. I do try to make it as pleasant as possible by turning it into a camp out and allowing my daughter to pick out disney movies to watch and depending on what we're sick with we may even eat soup or snacks in the living room while vegging out infront of the tv. Yup being sick means we get to break the rules :) Feel better soon.

When we are sick at the same time I get us all comfy cozy in my bed and pop in the movies! When I was little and got sick my mom would buy me magazines to read, like Teen Bop and such...so I do that too, a stack of magazines (for me), some kid books, warm tea or juice...stay in your jammies and totally veg out!

~Don't feel guilty mom...you guys need the rest and the down time to get better!

Don't feel guilty!! There are days when getting everyone fed is an accomplishment! lol If you're both sick, then lots of rest is what you both need. There's no harm in vegging for a day or 3 when you're sick.

You're sick and so is he. It's OK to be a couch potato and watch tv shows and movies. Actually--it's the BEST time!

Curl up on the couch, take lots of naps and zone out in front of the TV. Rest your body and mind so they can heal themselves. That's what I did when my kids and I were sick at the same time. It will NOT ruin their minds and health to just veg out for a couple of days.

Thats exactly what you do. Read a book or two if that makes you feel better. But if you don't feel like doing much, chances are- neither does your son. Rest, watch tv and get in some good cuddle time! Feel better soon.

Just rest.
You don't have to 'do' anything.
You are both sick.

Sadly this is the ONLY time I snuggle with my 2 year old otherwise she is running around like a man woman playing...I say look at it positively and do alot of quality time with your baby...also you didnt say what KIND of sick..if its just a cold..then get out and play. but if its vomiting and diareaha...stay in and snuggle. If you want to do a game, then a deck of cards or play doh works wonders on a 20 month old

We've been sick this week also. TV here we come! No reason to feel guilty, when you're sick you just need to lay down and relax. Be a couch potato.

watch TV, cuddle alot... take naps... eat soup... and take warm baths together.

TV won't hurt a sick baby. if you feel guilty, you could play on the floor or color with him instead... Don't make him feel like he has to "do" a lot. keep things simple and easy! He'll benefit the most from good care- plenty of attention, lots of fluids, lots of sleep and rest. So will you! Do it on the couch, or in bed, or wherever. Save making him a super genius for a few days from now when he is back on his feet!

Good Job!

If it isn't your every day thing, then go with it! Make popcorn (if it sounds good), pop in Winnie the Pooh and get blankets for the sofa. Nap on the sofa all day. I've done it with mine, when we were not feeling well. When you are feeling better, you'll go back to your usual routine.

There's nothing wrong with a little TLC or vegin' on the sofa when you are feeling low. And nothing wrong with it for your kiddo, either. You can read books while you're there in between episodes, lol.

Have a pajama party! Sleeping bags out in front of the tv, throw a simple breakfast or lunch together, and everyone veg in front of movies for the day. Maybe a board game too (if you can handle it). Guilt free, a couple of sick days never hurt anyone. Feel better!!

If you're sick, you need to let your body rest. If that means spending the day vegging in front of the tv, do it.

Reading books and listening to music are good to break things up. Also, when your son is older coloring and stickers are a good mellow activity

Throw all your other "normal" stuff out the window. When we're all sick we laze on the couch and watch tv all day if we're not feeling up to anything else. If they are and they want to play or do something else great if not, let them rest, that's how they get well!

Sit on the couch and be a potato :) Cuddle up with your kiddo under a blanket, make hot tea/chocolate, have tickle breaks and maybe read if you feel like it. But mostly, take the time and enjoy the cuddling part. They grow up TOO quick and he might not want to do that for much longer. My son is the same age and we both recently fell ill too. We spent our afternoon being lazy (even took a nap together) and I loved every minute of it. Our normal day-to-day is hectic so it was nice to get a break.
Have fun and feel better soon!
