The all floors is just as good as the Animal. I use one at one of my client's houses and she has 4 dogs and a 2 year old. It's the most amazing invention EVER!!! I can't wait until I own one!!!!!!!!
I looked at Dyson's at Target tonight. There are too many choices. The one says Animal vac but aren't they all 'spose to pick up animal hair? That's why they're called a vacuum right? I read the card on the bottom of each store model there and confused more than ever. So what is the difference? Are they heavy to move up/down stairs? I currently have a Kirby and love it but it's just too heavy for me to be moving around both levels. I also had an Oreck for almost 15 years but didn't like the fact that it doesn't have the on-bored attachments. Also are they super loud? My Kirby is and my 5 yr old hates when I vacuum.

I have a DC07 model and I love it! My parents got the Animal because they had long hair cats and my mom thought it worked GREAT. We love our Dysons and are very pleased with our purchases.
I do not notice a large difference between the two, but then I do not have long hair cats, so couldn't tell you if that would make a difference. I have a short hair cat and I shed a lot of my long hair and our Dyson works just fine at getting it all up. I'm always amazed at the stuff it picks up! We live in NC and it will get up the tiny grains of sand that make their way in the door from our sandy soil. :)
We've had the orange Dyson ball for two years and I love it. My mom and sister-in-law both have the yellow standard (sorry not sure of the model) and they're great too, but I love the maneuverability of the ball. We have a super-shedding White German Shepherd and two short hair cats and it sucks up their hair very well. A couple of weeks ago our vacuum stopped working and the motor got hot and smelled terrible so I called their 1-800 number. Long story short, I was told to detach one of the hoses and it was crammed full of animal hair. Very disgusting, but very simple and easy to clean. It's very easy to lug up and down the stairs too.
I had the Animal and now I have the yellow one and both work great! I wouldn't stress over choosing. Go to a store where you can pick them up and move them around and see which you like best.
I don't have mine yet but I plan on getting the orange ball one. I think that's what it is. It's the one for $399. I have heard great things about it.
Do you have a Walmart near you? If you go to www.coliryan.com you can order it from Walmart, select pick up at store and you can earn 2% cash back without paying shipping. :)
Every little bit in our pockets rather than the large retailers is good right? :)
