are you expected to feed them? play with? projects? or just supervise? 10-15 an hour depending.
I was asked to babysit 3 children, ages 10,6 and 4. I would like to do it but I'm not sure what to charge. It would be Mon thru Fri 5 hours a day. Any advice?
Thank you so much for all your help. This is a great site! It's nice to know there are people right at your fingertips to talk to about anything.

Most daycares in my area charge $30-37 per day (up to 10 hours)
When I had my son in a home daycare I paid $110 per week for full time & that was very inexpensive in comparision to the $150+ in centers.
Centers usually consider full time after 5 hours per day.
I'd suggest calling around to see what the rate is in your immediate area or talk to the parents & see what you can agree to.
Maybe it depends on where you live. Those rates sounded high to me at first , but i guess if you have 3 kids, maybe it is a fair amount, although the older one should be easy.
I watched one guy (3yrs not potty trained) one day a week for 8 hrs. I wanted $75- $100 for the day, but the mom's job was so low paying she said she could only afford $30 a day. She isn't well off at all so I believe that was the truth. I accepted it, since I wanted the extra money, and he wasn't too much trouble. I did insist that he bring his own lunch but I provided the snacks.
Just FYI- I ended up spending some of my own money to buy coloring books, crayons, paints, a few foam crafts, etc. It helped pass the time, but it wasn't something i had anticipated when i agreed to watch him.
Have fun, I'm sure they will keep you busy but What a great way to bring in some cash while being with your little guy.
My kids go to a daycare center/preschool. For FT care (which is 4-5 days...my kids only go 4 days but we have to pay the same as people who use it for 5 days)...we pay $261/week (for two kids, ages 4 and 1). I am going to be off for the summer, but I want to keep them in one day a week...it is going to cost $70 for the one day if we decide to do it...but that includes all their meals and snacks and activities. I only have to provide a sheet and blanket for naptime and diapers and wipes for the baby...and sunscreen for both.
It's pricey...I would think for an in-home you would want to charge a little less but you have to work out a lot of stuff...would you provide meals/snacks/activities? Would you be taking them anywhere? What would the plan be if you couldn't watch them (if you were sick, had an appt., etc.). What would happen if they didn't come, would you still get paid or would you be out that money? 3 extra kids around is a LOT of work...and a LOT more food you would have to buy...and it needs to be fair...you want to help this person out-but you're giving your time and energy...you want to be able to make a little extra from doing this-but if the money you make is going right back into buying food for them when they come, you're not really going to make anything.
Lots to think about...good luck.
i have an inhome daycare and for 3 children i would charge $75 a day at least, that is 25 per kid, 5 an hr, you could also call your local daycares and give them the ages of kids and hrsa to be watched and see what they say then go a little under what they charge. hope this helps
Hi C.
I pay $68.00 per week for 3 days to my daughters daycare. She also brings lunch with her. They do go to the pool and ot the movies so I do not think that is too bad. Now if she was going for 5 days I would have had to pay $93. Hope this helps.
