What Kind of Natural Soap/lotion Do You Use on Your Newborn?

Hi Mamas.
I am due anyday. We are getting the final items together in the nursery. My mother-in-law gave us a wonderful basket full of Mustela products. Then a friend of mine told me that that brand is supposed to have alot of alcohol and not be good for babies. My sister uses California Baby, and loves it. I would like to keep the soaps and lotions natural. What do you use? And where can you buy California Baby besides Whole Foods? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Hi S.--your sister is absolutely right. You want only certified organic or 3rd party endorsed products. You can never trust "all natural."

You will pay more but very well worth it. the skin is the largest organ on the body and what you put on it reaches every organ within 7 seconds and it is so important for baby's health.

Vitacost.com has many
smartbomb.com
naturalwebstore.com

and my personal favorite is a product line from Australia.

No lotion! Totally unnecessary. As for soaps, California Baby is awesome we also like Burts Bees.

www.safecosmetics.org is a great resource so is Dr. Sears:

EDIT: I have to update my post. I just bought Burts Bees (it's been a while) and my younger guy broke out all over his back! Just thought I would share, it could be just fine for your baby, it was fine for my older guy, just not my little one.

it's not organic but cetaphil is wonderful as a cleanser (they also have a thick cream for moisturizing) because-get this-because you don't have to rinse it. if you're giving baby a bath by yourself, you'll appreciate that! costco has good deals on it in 2 packs. my baby has eczema if i don't use it. actually, anything that suds up is not recommended-organic or not! save your money and aggravation and go for cetaphil cleanser. i just pour into bath water before running the water and i use at every poopy diaper change-big help!

congrats and good luck with the delivery!
