I'm hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year and I'm just looking for ideas. Of course we are having turkey, corn pudding, some sort of greens probably collard, mac and cheese. So what else are you preparing?

I'm invited to a Thanksgiving with a dear friend and her family (my husband and son are out of town visiting the in-laws). I'm planning on making a big savory tray of roasted veggies: carrots, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, red peppers with fresh herbs and garlic, etc. I like to serve this with some really good fresh chevre to crumble on it. (This family is like myself, a bit less-traditional).

I am so sad this year...my BIL and SIL (Husband's little brother & wife) just had their very first baby so they wanted to have Thanksgiving to show off the baby....but since baby is so new and all we will be having Thanksgiving at a restaurant this year? I have never done this before? So I will be missing al the yummy goodness that is Thanksgiving! :(

~My sister + her family, and My Mother will be having the basics: The Bird, BIL's famous stuffing, sweet potatoes w/marshmellows, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Green Beans w/Bacon, Brussel Sprouts, *My Famous Cranberry Spread (can't have a Thanksgiving w/out it, Sister is going to make it this year), Mocha Punch (also one of my recipes), then there is the snack trays and deviled eggs! Boy am I gonna miss the familia and the food this year!

Turkey
Gravy
Mashed Potatoes (homemade...not boxed)
Stuffing
Broccoli (only vegetable everyone will eat)
Yams
Biscuits
Deviled Eggs
Black Olives (for just me!!)
Pumpkin Pie
Cranberry Sauce

I have finicky eaters. They like what they like and that's it. No creativity here. I would love some green bean casserole but again, I would be the only one to eat it.

Due to a recent dx of diabetes we are having: Turkey, Garlic mashed cauliflower (same as fake mashed potatoes), cauliflower & broccoli cheese bake (instead of mac & cheese), fresh green beans with turkey bacon, onion, & garlic and a low carb pumpkin cheesecake. I'm hoping we won't miss the carby foods too much.

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and gravy are the most important in our family! My mom makes the best! Then the other add-ins change from year to year. This year we are having a mixed green salad w/ranch, broccoli casserole, apple Waldorf salad, rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and the all too important wine :)! Good luck and enjoy!
