My 15 year old is "saying" he's too old to go...so he's going to walk around with his brothers as a "warden".

My 13 year old is using his Gi from Tae Kwon Do and wants to be "Bruce Lee" he wants his hair slicked back and "black" - I'm looking for a wig that will work for him or some good gel that will make his hair look darker.

My 11 year old is Rick Grimes, the sheriff from the Walking Dead

My 8 year old wants to be Hans from Frozen.

YAY!! No masks!! No capes!

Mine are 12 and 14.

Youngest is going to be Freddy Krueger (again).
Oldest is going to be a vampire.

Yes, they still go door-to-door. We get together with some friends and walk around. One of us stays home to hand out candy and maintain the puppy dog.

Mine will be an octopus. Hubs a vulcan, and me a banana. We went to a party last Saturday, will do some limited trick or treating on Friday, and go to another party on Sat night.

Octopus for a 4 year old boy was hard to concoct, but I bought an oversized stuffed animal, and basically strapped it to his torso. He is tickled.

Shannon is going as a cat...complete with tail, ears, collar and 'make up' whiskers and nose!

Her sister will take her around the neighborhood dressed as a 'scary doll' while I dress for my usual role as a B...oops...I mean witch! Green face, hat, creepy nails, wart and dressed in all black. I may be playing tunes from "Wicked" in the background...but just for 'my' benefit!

(sounds terrible to say, but I am QUITE sure in this rural part of Virginia, I will be the only one on 'my' porch' who will 'get' it!).

Does that make me truly evil to have 'typed that out loud'??

BTW... we just carved the pumpkins tonight, and placed our skeleton that lights up in a pile of leaves!

I also have my 'skull' wine glass (and a few bottles of wine) ready...and candy in my cauldron! This year it is a friday, as you know. One has to be prepared!!

Last year I told them we could spend $40 on costumes that they'd wear for 3 hours, or I'd give them each $20 and they could spend it all on candy.

They took the candy money. We'll see what happens this year. :D

ETA: I love Halloween. But we always end up getting roped into volunteering to help with our church's Fall Festival. I love it, but Husband and I have decided that we're hitting all the after Halloween clearance, and next year we're having a CRAAAAAAZY party (especially since Halloween will be on a Saturday night)!

The 13 year old is Benny the Spaceman from The Lego Movie. The 10 year old is Star Lord from Guardian's of the Galaxy and the 5 year old is probably going to be Anna in her Winter Outfit from Frozen, but she does have the blue Elsa dress. Don't think she's going to change her mind from Anna though as that's her favorite.
My husband threw together a very basic Indiana Jones outfit. I did a "Disneybound" type outfit of "The Haunted Mansion". Disneybounding is where you go through every day clothes and accessories, or bits from the Halloween store like my hat, and put together an outfit that is inspired by and invokes the general feeling of a Disney character or attraction.

This year we have more planned than just going around our neighborhood like we usually do. We have family in town and another member of the family just moved into a new home so we'll all be going there and terrorizing their new neighborhood together. We've already done our trip to Disneyland for their Halloween party earlier this month.

We all love Halloween around here!

My daughter is 10 and is going to be the Mad Hatter. We go trick or treating for an hour and then eat pizza in the front yard while passing out candy.

Of course, with the weather forecast for Halloween, they'll be wrapped up in winter gear so who knows how much of the costume will even be visible!

My boys made their own costumes this year. One is ____@____.com@, one is a Dalek from Doctor Who. My husband helped them wire lights into their hats and everything :)

My daughter is 19 and participating with her Sorority Delta Zeta at the college for a Trunk or Treat. All the organizations participate and it is a huge deal in the area. The winning organization gets bragging rights for the year and dinner. The theme is Disney. The DZ's are turning a pumpkin into a carriage. One member has one of those teeny tiny cars and they are transforming it into a carriage. I am still in awe at how great this has turned out and proud of my girl because she is a co-leader of the project! Hopefully I'll get a pic of the big day and will put it on my profile. All of the members of DZ will be different Disney Princesses (lol, fitting for a large group of girls!!)

From what I have seen on FB with friends posting their children, I think the movie Frozen will inspire a lot of princesses this year.

I am SO ready for the big night. I love the 200+ trick or treaters I get and seeing how creative some of them can be!

In order to keep my dogs sane from constant door knocking.....I set up my Halloween table outside my front door, have a fire pit going (it is encircled by a large golden gate so so one gets close), I line my driveway it is a big downward slope) with tiki torches and I have red fuel burn this year. Since I live in a wooded area with lots of wildlife, I have sporadic fake rats and snakes placed around. We have 2 real traps that we use for the armadillos and I have been looking for a large rat or something with shiny eyes that I can put in one of the traps. I also have a fog machine that I keep going as well.

My 13yr old will be Batgirl (easy, already had the costume from a couple of years ago).

My 12 yr old will be Mikasa from the Japanese anime "Attack on Titan" (don't ask).

And my 17yr old son, who loves Boardwalk Empire, is going to don his full-on 3piece 1930s style suit and Fedora (his b'day present, it's all he wanted...an old man Fedora, which freakin' cost a bundle - he better pass it on to his grandkids someday) and be someone who may or may not have made someone else swim wit da fishes.

I doubt my son will actually go trick or treating...he hasn't gone in years. But I fully expect him to answer the door all dressed up come Halloween night. The girls still love to go trick or treating. They get giddy like small kids on Halloween. They're growing up so fast, it makes me happy to see them that way at least once a year. My babies...

Super heros in my house. I got each of mine a plain colored tshirt. I added a cape off the shoulders and added their first initial on the front. Simple but easy to get on and off which is a major plus. I have some vintage clothes from my grandmother so I'll go dressed up in some of that.

They are still young and tire easily. I don't like making a big to do out of it. Last year was our first year to participate in going door to door which we will do again this year. My almost four year old thinks we are absolutely insane having him go up to strange houses to get candy from strangers. We'll see how it goes this year. Perhaps being older he'll get into it more.

I can't wait to see all the kids. So cute and so creative. Last year I saw a kid as a hot air ballon, basket around the waist with ballons over her head. Two thumbs way up in my book. :)

11 year old made herself a Wonder Woman costume to go with her group of friends (they all have super hero names).

9 year old is a phantom with cool glowing eyes.

7 year old is an Ice Ninja (for the win, two years in a row with this costume!)

5 year old will be Sleeping Beauty and 2 year old boy will be a Dalmatian (Firehouse dog). Husband is in a Superman T shirt, lol.

It'll be cute if they can stay awake :)

My boys, 12 and 9, are having me paint their faces as scary skeletons and then they are wearing long black cape things. They look awesome.
My daughter, 3 1/2, has asked to be a bubble guppy with either a clown face or a lion face. Um? OK!!

Well, you'll see our pics on FB. lol My daughter has a full bodied monkey suit and she's wearing it with a scary baby face mask. She tried it on and my son slept with the light on that night. lol He's going to be a homemade zombie. My husband is going to be a crazy scary clown, although he can't decide yet and we have a lot to choose from that we've collected over the years. I bought a $1 hospital gown I think I'm going to bloody up and put dark circles under my eyes when I hand out candy.

My husband and daughter are meeting friends to go trick or treating and my son is going with his bff from church so I'll be home by myself handing out candy. I put all this info on the Theresa N question someone asked before I saw this question. lol

My to be 3 yr old will be Superman (bought the costume last year and then changed my mind). He even has the little curl over the forehead. My 6 yr old will be Aurora from Sleeping Beauty (still have her sister's costume from years ago). I won't dress up. We will just go trick or treating. One of my older girls is making her own costume--painting bones on black clothes and likes the scary stuff. My other daughter will be a panda. My oldest son will be something along the lines of Jason. The older ones (all 15) will go trick or treating and then my girls are going to a party for a bit--supposed to end at 10 so they will have some fun.

My 2 year old will be Belle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I really tried hard to keep her away from Disney princesses in general, but no luck. There's a Halloween event at a local neighborhood where the streets are closed down for two hours and the stores pass out candy. That's where I took my daughter last year and will do so again this year.

My son is going as a revolutionary war soldier (or George Washington)...we just moved to DC. And my daughter is going as a monarch butterfly.

My kids are 9 and 12. The nine year old will be Jason from Friday the 13th. The 12 year old will be Rick from The Walking Dead. They go door to door.

My daughter will be the ever-popular Elsa. We tried talking her into a costume that would be less "over-done", but sweet girl had her heart set on it.
My son is going to be a creeper from Minecraft.

We will Trick-Or-Treat in the neighborhood. My daughter turns 5 tomorrow, so we are having a family dinner/small party tomorrow night, and then her big party on Sunday. The kids chose not to go to a friends Halloween party on Saturday night, which I am completely ok with. The weekend will be ridiculously busy, but lots of fun!

We go door-to-door and the kids are going to be Padmé Amidala (5.5), Darth Vader (3.5), and Yoda (16 months).

My 4yo daughter is going to be a minion. (Despicable me version.) originally, she wanted to be a kitty minion, then a vampire... I told her she had to make her final decision and she went with regular minion.

My sister in law and I are dressing as Jack Skellington and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. :)

A pop star and an army girl :) both homegrown costumes with various pieces and accessories...

My youngest, 4, is going to be a pirate and my oldest, 7, is going to be "death personified" aka the Grim Reaper. But, since they cannot take toy weapons to school they will be dressing up as....drum roll...Elsa (4 year old and I am sure there will be something like 5 Elsas at the party) and Athena. I made them pick something from their dress up clothes chest for the school parties because I wasn't willing to dish out more money for costumes.

We will be going door to door and then we will go to a little party after the beggars fill up their candy buckets. We parents aren't dressing up this year. I'm just not feeling creative enough to make costumes.

We adopted our girls in May so this is out first halloween with kids! We are all going as Batman characters because we watched a lot of it together and just both anted to be characters from that (thank goodness it was two different ones!) my 4 year old will the Riddler and my 2 year old will be Batgirl with my wife and as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivey. We are all in love with our costumes and so we have decided to take family pictures in them and use them for our holiday cards!

We'll have an Anna (Frozen) and a baby skunk.

I'll raid my daughter's dress-up box and wear a pair of kitty ears.

My kids are too old for trick or treating, but are dressing up for Halloween parties. The 16 year old is going as Bruce Lee (not too difficult, since he looks a lot like him) and the 19 year old is going as Louise from Bob's Burgers (her favorite animated tv show).

my kids are grown up and having a party at their house in baltimore. don't know what the younger is going to wear, but my older is going to be khal drogo, and his gf will be danaerys. i can't wait to see the pics!
i'm going on a ghost tour tonight in our little town, and it's also trick-or-treat night. i'm stoked to learn about which bits of town are haunted, and to see all the little ghouls!

Daughter 11 (trick-or-treating w/ friends and myself) -- Funky Clown
Son 6 (trick-or-treating) -- Ghoul from the Scream movie. He was this last year, as well and just loves the costume.

The Funky Clown costume is made up from stuff she picked out herself and assembled. The Kitty Cat is simple: ears, tail, bowtie/collar, black clothing and pained face make-up. She's older and didn't want to go all out.

My girls are so excited about Halloween. The house is all decorated, and the costumes are at the ready! My 12 year old is going to be a Victorian ghost, and my 9 year old is going to be a Musketeer.
