What Would You Pay for Something like This?

I have a friend who creates initials like this for kids' bedrooms or any other purpose and she's thinking of doing it for a profit. First question: Is this something you would buy for your own children? And Second: If yes, what would you pay for one initial?

Thanks so much in advance!

They are cute. Not my personal style, but I can see my SIL getting stuff like this. I would probably pay $10 per letter.

They are cute. Hobby Lobby sells letter this size and cut. She has decorated then very nicely here though.

I don't know that I would pay a lot, I think the plain ones at Hobby Lobby are under $5 each.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay anything. They aren't expensive or time consuming to make, the times I've made them. The letters are very inexpensive to buy at craft stores.

There are people out there who aren't crafty, and I suppose they would pay. Not sure how much though. You can't really mark them up too much, since all the supplies are readily available (cheaply) at any Hobby Lobby, or other craft store.

I definitely know plenty of moms who would LOVE things like that for their children. I probably would be open to it, especially if all of the letters were that cute! :) I would say $10/letter is a bit much- maybe you could suggest making a package deal- $8 per letter for names 4 letters & up? That way it's a deal for the moms and your friend still gets good money. idk. Good luck :)

Babies R Us sells plain wood letters for $6. I would easily pay $10 or $12 apiece. Whatever her cost is, triple it. I see so many possibilities for these, what a great idea!

ps
You'd be surprised what people will pay if they can't make something themselves. It's crazy how much people pay me to make spring rolls, considering the ease and cost to do so.

Sure. Your friend might check out the market on Etsy. There are a lot of people who sell similar things, but she would be able to gather a general sense of the market based on level of personalization, etc. (PS They are lovely!)

very, very inexpensive to make! All of my nieces create them....which makes me wonder if there really is a market for them. You can find them thru many resources....& the base supplies are quite cheap!

How much would I pay? Probably not more than $10....but honestly I would want to be in charge of the personalization. Mod Podge is all you need to create the effects, along with a few basic painting skills.

This project is more about "having an eye"....as opposed to painting talents!

I bought my child's name for $13 per letter on Ebay. She copies 48 different bedding patterns and they look professional BUT it took her 8 weeks to paint it.

If I were in the market for one I would pay $10 for the "N" one that includes the entire child's name. I wouldn't spend $10.00 per letter to spell out a child's name. Not when I can buy all the letters I would need and decorate them myself for around $10.00 total.

Wall letters are sold on Etsy for as little as $2.00 each.

It's not something I would buy, but I do know of many of my mom friends that would. I wouldn't pay over $10 a letter.

My dad makes these...very easy to make.

You can buy them at Crate & Barrel and other stores....I don't know how much they sell for. I know a lot of people have them. So I don't know what the market would be like for her....

If I was to purchase one? $10 max.

I would pay about $10-12. They are very nice. They look like they are on some type of foam board so probably paying more than $10-$12 would not be appropriate for me due to durability.

They're very pretty. I bought some like this that are stickers for my daughter's room, and I paid $2 or $3 a sticker, I think, so maybe $7 or $8 for a wood letter? Your friend should go on etsy and see how business goes.

Regardless of the fact that they can be made easily yourself, blah blah blah...not everyone is crafty or skilled in making them, not everyone has the time to do it. I have seen plain wood ones' with just blue or pink paint for upwards of $10 a piece. I would say for those I saw in the first link, she could easily ask $12 to $15 each. Now, if she were to set up at a craft fair or other such local event she could probably get more.

It's not the supplies you're paying for, it's the time she's taking to make such pretty art! I love it! I'd pay $15-$20 per letter, depending on how elaborate. I'm not very crafty, so for something personalized for my kid, I'd pay a decent price.

The plan ones from Pottery Barn are $10 each. Your friend's are much prettier - I think people would pay $12-$15 each.
