When Procrastination Pays

Last night it snowed a smidge, just an inch or two. When I went out early this morning to bring in the garbage cans, I thought sigh, well I WILL shovel, I just gotta do THIS thing, and THAT thing, but I WILL shovel!

Cuz if I DON'T, well it'll get very cold tonight, then there's no getting the ICE off.....

So just now, I went out to get the mail, and ALL THE SNOW ON THE DRIVEWAY IS GONE!! Puff! Like magic! Fantastic! That NEVER happens in Upstate NY.

(And yeah, I see the irony in how I might've gotten an extra half hour of vigorous exersize and fresh air....)

But can you think of an occasion when Procrastination Paid Off for you, too?

:)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Snow melted! All by itself! So when you tell your husband....'Well it's not gonna shovel ITSELF, IS it?' You may be wrong!

Tee hee hee. I love you Theresa. I have been putting off ALL chores since I got home two weeks ago. Hey, we WERE in a power outage for days / snowed in / I was JUST giving myself a chance to rest after family crazies 2012.

Unfortunately, NONE of those chores have taken care of themselves.

Fact: Dishes are like bunnies. Yah leave 'em in the sink together and more dishes just keep on collecting!

I can't even talk about my Laundry Situation. I have a few towels that have began to have a life of their own. Ever talk to a towel? I have. It's SCARY stuff...(ahem, just kidding, ahem).

When has it paid off? Hmmmm....I practice a lot of procrastination, so I SHOULD be able to come up with an answer. I can't think of one right now.

Later. I'll answer this question later, right after I....

;-)

I always put off cleaning out my car. I dont take things in the house. They end up in the trunk and I'll clean it out later. That has paid off 100 times. At any moment I can pull out an umbrella, an umbrella lawn chair, shoes of any size, a blanket, a jacket, a sweater, there might be some windex back there, perhaps a pail and shovel for an imprompto stop at the park. Had I cleaned out my car, I would;ve had to pull over and buy sunblock, or new shoes, when my flipflop broke. It's like a giant mommy purse. WHatever you need is back there. I'm never in a hurry to clean that out.

I like to think that those little incidents are not an accident, but rather a little help from my guardian angel. Love it! That very thing happened to me last season:)

Theresa, you make me laugh. Which is a good thing.

Wish that would happen here... with the weeds in my garden!
I have to also weed my garden before the in-laws arrive.
They are gardening people, and think my garden will be like theirs. They live in the country in Europe, where idyllic postcard gardens are a fact of life.
Not mine!

Wanna come and help me weed the garden and make it vanish? Like your snow?

LOL

I could use some magical disappearance act of nature, too!

Ha ha I do see that once in awhile procrastination pays off.

Such as when I wait out the rain to run to the grocery store, then it's sunny & warmer out! ahh.

Just a thought: did the snow melt or was someone kind enought to shovel it FOR you?

A few weeks ago I saw an outfit I liked, but I was in a hurry and decided I'd come back another day. Well I did and it had been marked down 50% - cool!

OH! Thought of something else. My husband has a very low tolerance to bills laying around...drives him nuts. He's a "get the bill-write a check now" kind of guy. On occasion I have had some personal bills sitting on the counter, you know, waiting for next pay day only to find when I go to get them to pay that he has already paid them! Gotta love that!

Putting off clean out my purse is always worth it, since whatever I just took out to lighten the load is exactly what I suddenly need the next day for whatever reason. I've lugged it around for months and months, never giving it a second thought until someone asks me for just that item - a bandaid, a small shopping bag, a hair clip, once the leg of a Barbie (you know you're a mom if you have bits of Barbies and Legos in your bag), the list goes on and on. So I clean out the crumbs and dirt and leave the rest. Of course then I never need it.

Yes! Our weather has been so crazy in Michingan. One day we got about 4inches. We didn't have anywhere to go (Sat afternoon) so we decided we would take care of it on Sunday. Well, Sunday it rained! Poof! all gone.

Oh Girl, I am the biggest procrastinator there is...thank you ADD! And my hubby is so not...his nickname is Turbo! But there has been many times when he has wanted to jump on things right away and I convince him not to, and then it ends up working out BETTER than if he would have done something quickly. And then I always get to say, "see, that is why you WAIT". Like its a GOOD thing!! Lol!

Today actually... I have been after my husband to call the drywall contractor to schedule our basement to be done (you know, before the baby gets here). Needless to say, he finally called the guy yesterday... they had a cancellation and were able to come today! Had we "scheduled" it... it would have been mid-February at the earliest.

There were times when waiting to shovel the snow paid off for my stepson. But usually it just meant he was chopping up the ice later that day.

Here are the top ten reasons for procrastination:

Once in a blue moon my driveway melts before I get to it. Other than that I don't think so.

Well sometimes when I need to mop the floor something else gets spilled before I mop it so I don't have to get the mop out twice. Does that count?

Oh, I guess the same would apply for making the bed. :) I only have to make that sucker like four times a year. :p
