When Should Babies Hold Their Bottles?

I'm just curious when my 7 month old will start to hold his bottle. Is this something I need to "teach" him, or will he just grab it one day?

What can I do next?

My daughter held her bottle when she was baout 4-5months old, the 4oz bottle and later the 6oz, or 8oz bottles, yes you can help the baby by showing her and letting her to discover on it own!it is much easier when they know how to do it!
good luck

Your little man will do it in his own time!! Don't rush things, They grow up so fast.
Then you are gonna wish you could hold him and his bottle.
Take care, God Bless

My son is three and a half months old and he holds his own bottle about 90% of the time. I have to help him sometimes but he will hold it through a 6-8 ounce feeding. My fiancé and I started putting his hands around it for about a minute and then let go. Try that! And if it fails just keep going. :)

Teach him.

My son is 5 and 12 months and holds his own. (lol)
Of course I keep an eye on him and occassionally he misses his mouth but he is learning.

I started putting his hands (both of them) around the bottle at 3 mos and now he does it on his own sometimes.

I also say the words "Now you hold it" and he likes the encouragement. I praise him when he gets it right and he gives me a big smile.

K.,

My son is 7 months old and "tries" to hold his bottle, but doesn't hold it up enough. He's been doing that for months, but still doesn't hold it on his own. My mother in law always says, he's a baby, he'll do it when he's ready. So, I wouldn't worry, he'll figure it out!

My daughter is about the same age and doesn't hold her bottle either. But she does hold a 2 handle sippy cup just fine.

My daugher is breastfed but when she gets a bottle she can hold it herself. She's 5 months, I don't think anyone had to teach her she just did it.

My son didn't do it until he was about 10 months, just because I don't think he really saw the purpose. I was holding it for him, so he figured why bother? When he decided he wanted the added independence, he did it himself.

Hi, My son is 11 months old. I can't get him to hold his own bottle at all. When he does hold it he puts it up side down. I fix it for him and he does it again. I don't know how to get him to put it the right way and hold it by his self.

Soon enough I'm sure he'll be grabbing that bottle.... My (almost) 8 month old girl will hold her bottle, but not for the whole feeding. She started doing this when she was about 6 months old or so....she would reach out and grab it and bring it to her mouth so fast..as if I wasn't doing it fast enough for her! I don't think it's something you need to teach your baby unless he gets lazy and refuses to feed himself when it becomes apparent that he can definitely do it himself.

its not something you are able to teach, it is just a skill they learn, like grabbing a toy. My daughter never held her bottle. But I was all right with that, My husband and I were able to bond with her.
