When Will I Hit My New Norm?

Hi all,

I've just stopped nursing my 25 mth old almost 2 weeks ago. I'm sore, but that's about it and that took over a week to start. We were still nursing a number of times a day before this. My question is: When will my breasts be their new normal? When can I go get bras that fit? I am still a large cup size/small band, so it is really expensive to get bras that won't last. Any ideas from moms with previous experience? My breasts have gotten smaller over time from less nursing and losing weight.

Thanks,
H.

So What Happened?

It's been almost 5 weeks and I went and bought 2 new bras. They are just great. My DD is doing great too not nursing. She must have been ready, but just needed a push. I was able to find bras at Nordstrom Rack that were 1/2 price of the normal bras I get just in case I change sizes anymore. Thanks for the advice.

After my milk dried up with my first I lost an entire cup size in about 2 months. With my second I got pregnant before I was done nursing so they just got bigger, I know that doesn't help much.

hot, damp towels soaked in epsom salt... that's what my mom always told me to use. Probably a couple more weeks, everyone is different. The amount you nursed when you did stop and how much you were producing is also a factor. Be patient. My 20mos bonded with my husband instantly when he couldn't nurse. I had just come home after a c-section with our last child and the 20mo had a stomach virus and wow, was he hurt at not being able to nurse, but boy did he and my husband bond! It's okay, Dad's can be there for their kids too....

That new norm shouldn't be too far away, if you've already lost weight.

I nursed my son for 29 months and I think that my breasts kind of decreased a little in size over that time, but after I stopped they didn't really change from that. They got a little firmer maybe, but size wise, stayed the same.

It took me about a month to get to my normal size again. My mom said it took her almost 2 months. I would say between 1 and 2 months. Hope this helps!
