My friend has a pet grooming shop on Park Row in between Fielder and Bowen called All Paws. Ask for the owner named Margie. She takes great care of all pets! Here's her website: http://www.dfwallpaws.com/
She has good reviews too!
Our golden retriever is getting clumps in her fur and she needs to be summer shaved and groomed. Any tips on where to take her for this that isn't insanely expensive? We don't want to do it ourselves b/c she's got some pretty bad clumps from rolling in mulch.
@ Theresa, I don't mean shave as in bald. Lol. She has very long fur and it needs a good "trim".

Petsmart does a top dog package for around $90 I think. Whatever it costs it is SOOOOOO worth it! Omgosh I have taken my lab mix to a DIY place and spent TWO HOURS there trying to shave him & was dripping in sweat the entire time! NEVER. AGAIN. !! Not only that, but he looked TERRIBLE! My husband made fun of me until his fur grew back in! ;D
I don't it doesn't answer your question, but I've only recently discovered this school of thought. I never shaved them, well, just cuz their coats are gorgeous.

I have never shaved my Goldens, but I didn't know it's a BAD idea.
Can't you just cut the mats out, rather then shave the whole dog?
:)
We use VIP grooming on Park Row. She does a great job on our dog and a few friends use her
I don't know what the cost would be for your golden but my mom uses Petco in Mansfield for her dauchsand's and they are pretty reasonable. She's been happy with them and they dogs don't ever have an issue with going. You can also do it yourself at The Dog Wash off Green Oaks Blvd. and Little Rd. They have the set up and the shampoos for you to do it yourself. They also have the clippers and all. I used to do that when I had my cocker spaniel.
