Hi Moms! My husband and I are planning on taking our two children - ages 4 and 17 months to the Dells for a three day weekend trip in November. I am wondering where to stay with my two little ones. We would like a place where the kids can swim but huge slides are not needed. I am also looking for any suggestions of fun attractions for the kids (with keeping in mind the temp. in November) and kid friendly places to eat. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

We have stayed at Chula Vista Resort and Water park for the last 4 years. My kids are now 11, 7, and 4. WE love their indoor water park and the are the only resort in the dells that offers an all inclusive package.

***Wilderness*** I have been going to the Dells at least once a year since I was eight - that's 42 years! Needless to say, I've been there, done that with just about everything that is there. I will never stay anywhere but the Wilderness. After staying there on a whim around 6 years ago I knew we would never go anywhere else. Being a single mom, I am very picky about how our few entertainment/vacation dollars are spent. When the kids and I (usually I talk a family into going with us and they all end up feeling the same way about the place) we do not do any of the typical tourist type things except for the Ducks (only go on "The Original Wisconsin Ducks" which are green and white). There are plenty of things to do on the Wilderness resort grounds so there is no need to go anywhere else. My kids, and friends much younger kids, are always very happy to hang at one of the many pools, 2 story ball and tunnel amusement area, play laser tag, or go to the arcade. Please look it up online. If you stay there and don't go to all the tourist traps you will spend far less cash and I guarantee will have more fun. www.wildernessresort.com As far as eating out goes, there is a cute place not too far from the hotel where we (and all the locals) eat. It has all sorts of kitchy stuff including Superman in a phone booth and Little Rascals playing on old tv's, I just can't remember the name. Most of the larger places are overpriced (avoid: Paul Bunyons - we got sick both times we went there) The buffet in the hotel for breakfast is great but really overpriced at dinner. The Waffle House, it looks kind of like an old steamboat, is very good also.

If you would like to know anything about the Dells, just ask!

Have fun! J.

We did the wilderness as well but it was a long walk from our room--10 minutes or so to the pool. So I would recommend askign for a room close to the pool because if you have little ones they always need something that you didn't bring. My friend said that Great wolf is better because it is not as big but I have not been there.

And they are pretty pricey.

We have stayed at the wilderness a few times- it is huge. THey have 3 indoor parks and you will want a stroller if you go there- our sons legs were so tired after a few days there that he actually asked to be carried. We have also gone to Chulavista- which has kid friendly parks as well. We did not stay there and our son was young when we went there.

We like Paul Bunyons to eat at for breakfast, the other places we have been to up there(other than chains) have been not so great. Eating at the resorts is super expensive- so it can be worth it to clean up and head out!

We went to the Dells in August with our 3 kids, then ages 6,5, and 17 months. We stayed at Great Wolf Lodge and it worked out well. The water park area is all connected so even though it is large once you've gone to the water the walking is reduced dramatically. I've heard that Kalahari is really nice but more for older kids and the Wilderness is huge and harder to get around with little kids. Our experience was good -- there was enough stuff to keep the little guy happy while having plenty for the big sisters too. Also, about 80% of their stuff is indoors so November will be fine. All the restaurants in the Dells are pretty kid-friendly. Great Wolf has snack bar type fast food down by the pool area which is easy for lunch. Have fun!

Right now the Wilderness has great deals for November. I was just looking that up the other day! It was a two room suite for $134.00 a night. We have not stayed there before, but we have stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge and LOVED IT!

Okay, I'm gonna go with The Wilderness. The one person said it's hard to go to all the indoor spots cuz they're kind of far from the suites... What we did with our 2 and 3 yr old was take one of the luggage carts with us and let the kids ride on it with all of our towels and all on it... then when you leave the waterpark obviously it'll be gone, but the next entrance you see there's always more! :-) But it was GREAT for little kids there was stuff for them at all 3 places. And with a 17 month old they even supply life vests and have a little little kid area that your 4 yr old might enjoy as well!!
