OK this is silly, but really Ticked me off! SO i get Breyer's ice cream in Oreo Cookie. My DH's favorite kind. We open it and Seriously in the Whole container (we dug through it) there were ONLY TWO pieces of TINY oreo cookie ! NOT to mention the containers are Shrinking in size :-( Any one else bothered by this?? LOL I know its ridiculous - but I told DH that I wanted to cut off the UPC bar code and send it to them complaining about the Missing Oreos in the Oreo Ice cream! Not sure if it will do any good, but maybe make me fell a bit better about being screwed out of Oreos! haha

What can I do next?

I agree...call the company's toll free number to lodge a complain..At worse, they won't care, but I'm willing to bet you'll get some coupons (or possibly FREE) icecream out of it.

As for the size thing...there was just a story on MSNBC recently that indicated the companies know that if they raise the cost of their items, people will be angry. But if they keep the price the same but make the packaging SMALLER, most people won't even notice. Its being done on everything from chips and coffee (less in the container than previously and the only way you would know is if you REGULARLY look at the quantities to notice its dropped a little) to diapers (if they take out one or two per package, they save a bundle and the consumers will likely never notice).

I would call or write...you won't get much out of it, except maybe coupons. And---yes!-- ha "half gallon" of ice cream hasn't been a half gallon in years!

I always call the numbers on the containers if I have a complaint about a product. Years ago I would buy my share of fruit chews for "go home" treats for my daycare children..and so often there would be a pack missing, or one sealed but totally empty, etc. I would call and get free coupons.

Same thing for all sorts of other products. I figure if I am unhappy, even if its a $4.00 can of hair spray that just won't spray (no matter what I do to it), or as you had, ice cream missing the candy goodie I bought it for, or a pizza that the plastic inner seal was ripped open or simply not big enough to cover the whole pizza!..whatever the case is...its a few dollars of my money they get to keep. And if hundred or more of consumers just tossed the items and said "screw it"..thats alot of money in that companies pocket for inferior products that no one used or consumed!

COMPLAIN...get some free coupons to give them another chance...and if its still crappy...never buy their stuff again!

I would let them know online. Then, find a really good Cream flavored ice cream, make it yourself and toss in as many Oreos as you want! I so enjoy my homemade ice cream so much more than store bought - although there are still a few flavors that I can't seem to get right.

One of the reasons I hate breyers...I don't even think it tastes like real ice cream either.

My mom once wrote a letter comlpaining that half our package of Nutterbutters were missing the peanutbutter between the cookies. The company (is that Nabisco??) sent her a note of apology and some coupons for free cookies. Of course, this was thrity years ago...

You'd be surprised. You can cut off the bar code, but it would be more helpful to the company if you cut off or wrote down any lot numbers (probably on the bottom of the container but could be elsewhere). This will tell them in which factory it was processed and probably when.

You don't need to provide a bar code or a receipt to prove your purchase. They want happy customers, and they won't think you went to the trouble to write to them if there wasn't a real problem. They will probably send you a letter and at least a few coupons for free containers. You'll feel better and you will have helped other consumers.

it's not silly. You didn't get what you paid for, and they don't want you to switch to another brand.

Google the address and look for customer service. You may even be able to click on "contact us" and send them an email. Include your address and phone number.

Do it. Or just track them down online and send it in an email (then you aren't out the postage also). Usually, when I have contacted someone about a problem with a product, they have send me reimbursement or coupons for free replacements. Sometimes extra $ off coupons in addition to a freebie coupon.

It is def. worth it to complain.

Definitely complain about a product problem. I complained about some frozen meal--Healthy Choice, I think--because it was horrible. I tasted like the thing had been defrosted and refrozen or something. They sent me several coupons for free products, plus contacted the store company (got a letter from the store also). That is what they have the customer satisfaction numbers for.

I so know what you mean. I usually send whatever company it is the complaint through their website and they usually will send coupons for free items in their brand because they don't want to lose your business. So send them your complaint and maybe you'll get free ice cream. Hope this helps.

I recently rediscovered the deliciousness of oreo ice cream. Was a fav when I was a kid and I sorta forgot about it. And if I remember correctly The bryers' brand calls it OREO ICE CREAM, not just generically cookies and cream??? I would be mad too. Call them up. They will probably at least send you coupons, if not a certificate for more!

UPDATE: BTW I REALLY want oreo ice cream now. And there better be oreos in it too!

Take the container back. That was an error by the company and the grocery store will give you your money back or replace it. It still has lots of Oreos in it! However, many ice cream companies have gone to smaller containers that are still shaped like the half-gallons, but they are NOT. Bluebell and I believe Mayfield still sell regular-sized containers.

I would be just as pissed! I hope you returned it. It does sound like a mistake, though. I would say to try a different brand, but Breyer's is the best, so give them another chance. I bet it was a fluke. Definately return the ice cream!
