My 6 year old prefers the disc that came with it - in spite of all the ones we have bought or rented from Blockbuster! I strongly recommend renting first. There are a lot of duds out there. Blockbuster has a nice selection.

My 6 year old loves the golf, bowling and tennis best (go figure). You do learn a lot about math, listening to rules and handling competition from them. When she recently went to a real bowling alley, she bowled a strike on her first ball!

We stick with the Leapster for educational games and use the Wii for physical activity, especially during cold winter months. Check with your local library. Many are starting to stock Wii games.

Try Big Brain Academy. My kids love that one and it works on building skills that will help with all areas of education.

For our son we got Cosmic Family. Its adorable. It teaches mastery of the Wii wand, literally. I think that's a difficult thing to master, especially for the little ones.

My six year old has been learning a number of things from our Wii games. On a sea monster quest he has learned about a number of ocean animals and where the live, with the rapala fishing game, he goes through the menu and has learned about the different fish, what kind of bait they like, average sizes and where they live. Pretty much the same with the Cabela's big game hunter. All about animals and habitats, how to track (this is helpful since he and my husband do this for real when weather is nice).
That said, learning comes in many forms. He has also learned patience, how to win (and lose) gracefully!
Oh, and he now wants to go learn REAL golf with my husband and I as a result of playing the Wii game:) YEAH!!

I suggest looking on the wii site on the Internet. My grandchildren play car races, baseball, bowling, and golf on their wii. I tried playing with them. Those games are educational in that you do learn about the game if you choose to do so. And they definitely are good for learning coordination. I'm not good at them at all. If I played often I would get better.
