Wood Floors: Help!

Hi there-

I purchased new wood floors about 3 months ago and have cleaned them with Orange Glow for wood floors. This last time that I used the product, it left a gritty almost sand paper feel to them. I tried cleaning it again with no change. I then have tried a couple of other products to fix the problem and nothing. I am very disheartened. The floor feels awful and it's not as shiny. Can anyone tell me if they have gone through this before and/or know what I could do to get my floors back to where they were???

Thanks...I am just a wreck over this. Any help that you could provide is appreciated.

It sounds like the Orange Glow might have done something to the finish on the floors. Have you looked very closely at them to see if you can see if the clear coat is still in tact? I would try the Murphy's Oil soap, it's the only thing I ever use on my wood floors. We've had them for 8 years and they still look brand new. If the finish is ruined, you might have to have it sanded and re-coated with the clear coat. Sorry, probably not what you want to hear. Good luck!

I hate that Orange Glow. It did something similar to my floors. Use a mixture of vinegar and hot water. It took the residue off of my floor, but it took a while to do it. I now use Mop & Glow when I want it to really shine and it leaves no residue and looks great. Good luck!

Sounds like the orange stuff stripped the floors.

Just use some Murphy's soap on them and see how it goes from there.

You might try using a steam mop on your floors.... I use one on my hardwood. It gets the floor clean without really making it wet, plus no chemicals. The only other thing that I use on my floor is the spray cleaner that is specifically made/distributed by the manufacturer of the flooring that I have.
