He may have a mild allergy, that causes dry itchy eyes. I get that way every year when people start turning on their furnaces for the year. All that extra dust in the air, and such.
My 21 month old started blinking excessively about a week ago. He does it on and off throughout the day. I was wondering if anyone else experienced this? I am going to take him to his pediatrician and next week but I was wondering if it was common or not.
We took him to the Dr and it was allergies. He takes Claritin in allergy seasons and the blinking is gone. Thank you

I wouldn't worry too much right now as long as his eyes look ok and he can see. He maybe having problems with dry eyes. As long as he is eating and playing as usual I wouldn't be too worried but do take him to the Dr's.
Get his vision checked, it might be allergies, but it might be that he can't focus.
We had the same thing, turns out we need glasses.
It's an easy check, the ped thought he was fine & would have never picked up on it. The preK teacher mentioned something about him looking very closely at his coloring.
Went to the local lens crafters to get his eyes checked found he is near sighted & now are going to a Ped Ophthalmologist for a professional evaluation.
I WISH we would have done this a year ago.
It is common in young children to have a tic they grow out of it usually pretty quick. I would definity ask your doctor because sometimes it is a sign of abnormal vision development. But I will bet your son has just discovered something new and is testing it out. Good luck!
YOU KNOW, MY 3 YEAR OLD DOES IT SOME DAYS. I ALWAYS THOUGHT MAYBE HE WAS TIRED OR WATCHED TO MUCH T.V. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR DR. SAYS!! I'D LIKE TO KNOW.
He may have a blocked tear duct, or allergies, a dr. visit should clear it up. =)
my son seemed to do this on and off too last year. I thought it was an allergy as well. The doctor said it was a tic that most kids have that come and go. The one thing they did stress, was not to call attention to it. My son would do it for a month and then it would be gone-hasn't come back since.
