***Thought maybe I should clarify a little bit... my profile says I am in Columbia, but I am actually in a small mid mo town near there. I didn't want to name my actual town online. I'm not sure whay Columbia got today, but I know some pretty scary storms went through there too.***
I live in Texas now, but as you can tell from my screen name we are from MO. We've been thinking about everyone up there since we heard about the tornados in Joplin. We had some weather down here last night but thankfully nothing like that!

I am hanging out in my basement. We had a wall cloud come down 55 but didn't touch down. They are still tracking it, at the moment it is crossing the river at the Arch.
I work in Ballwin, they sent us home at 2:30 so we wouldn't be in our cars when it hit. My kids school wouldn't let the bus riders go since a funnel was spotted close to the school. We are in the Mehlville district for those in StL.

Okay I found this funny, the airport is not allowing traffic in or out. Guess that don't want a do over from Good Friday.
All safe here...finally! No injuries for anyone I know or that I know of but it was crazy at lunch time in KC.

KC here. It was a day for sure. The sirens drove me batty and I don't think it's over.
I am in the KCMO area.....we made it through without damage to our home. I have a friend that went to help out in Joplin for a couple days and said the destruction is unreal...that the news doesn't begin to cover what it looks like...it looks like a war zone. wow an amazing picture. we spent an hour in the tornado shelter at work also, had some activity around 135th and metcalf in Overland Park i believe (i'm not real familiar), and then of course, sedalia. glad you are okay. brian busby said it should all clear out (for now) tonight by 1 am!

Today was sooo stressful! My DD was in Sedalia with grandparents and a tornado hit near their house. Was hard to get in touch to find out how everyone was. Baby boy was at daycare...luckily there's a basement and hubby works at a school in a town another tornado touched down. We spent two hours in our shelter where I work. Blessed at the end of the day to say everyone is safe at home and in bed.

Glad your ok. I'm in Shreveport, and we are under a watch, but I am thinking we will be lucky and escape all of this. Hope everyone up there is ok.
I live in Columbia and it was a crazy day yesterday, but nothing very damaging came through here. I'm from Sedalia, so it was a little upsetting watching some of the neighborhoods that I know so well (including our skating rink and middle school) be pummeled by a tornado. They got plenty of advanced notice though, so no one was hurt, thankfully, and all my family lives on the other side of town from where the tornado touched down.
A good friend of mine lost her home in the Joplin tornadoes this week. She is 32, a wife and a mom of two little ones. They were able to salvage a few clothes and a little bit of furniture, but so much was ruined by the water and wind. Her family is accepting donations to help pick up the pieces. If anyone would like the address, please send me a personal email and I'll send that along to you.

My girl friend is in Columbia where you are. She has been sending me photos all day! I am watching the weather channel...have been all day. I dont know how you guys do this year in and year out...She has not been out there long..So, this is new for her. I have had family in Oklahoma get hit. It was their first times through this as well(to this extreme). So, this feeling of fear for them is all to new..and we are scared. I want them all home:)
