Younger Boy's Higeine

As many of you know, my daughters (10 & 14) started needing deodorant at a very young age (1st or 2nd grade and Kindergarten). My son is in Kindergarten and a rough n tough little guy. He has no signs of needing anything. Even his feet don't stink (yay).

I was just curious... on average, what age do boys begin to show signs of needing higeine products? If it's pretty soon, what have you found to be the best product(s)? Oh, btw, he will be 6 on May 8th. :)

Thanks, everyone!

L.

My 11 year old has yet to get stinky, although he started wearing Axe Deodorant when he was 10 (he really doesn't wear it every day). My 8 year old is sweatier than his brother, but hasn't started to stink yet. They both get stinky feet from wearing their winter boots with wet socks.

3rd grade. (?)
I say this because, when my daughter was in 3rd grade, her Teacher started to talk to the class, on a casual level, about how they all will start to need deodorant. Why? Because, the kids, were starting to stink! Especially after... P.E. class. And the boys, would be SO sweaty and stinky.

I have a boy.
He is 7 now.
Typical active boy.
But not yet stinky. ;)

My daughter uses Arm & Hammer "Essentials Natural Deodorant." It has no aluminum or parabens in it. It is for girls or boys, women or men.

Diet can be a big factor in this. Also any herbal medications.

My younger daughter's best friend has worn deodorant since age 5. Her family eats very garlicky food. When she sweats, we smell it.

usually 5th grade but sometimes 4th or sooner. I think encouraging daily showers with the use of soap all over, washing hair, wearing clean clothes *stress clean underwear and socks, and using a simple deodorant is all that's needed. Basic hygiene. I stress that with my 4 and 5 year old boys now minus the deodorant.

My son's feet have smelled since he was in 6th grade if not earlier. But really did not use deoderent till high school. He's not athletic so that could make a difference if he was more active. My youngest is almost 12 and doesn't need deoderent at all and he's very active. So it depends on the child I think.

I bought my younger boy foot powder and deodorant at age 10. My 12 year old has yet to need it. It really depends upon the kid.
