I wanted an electric griddle forEVER, and got one a few years ago for Christmas. Know how many time's I've used it? Maybe 3. I hate how much space it takes up, either being stored or used, I HAAATE having to clean it, and I have never once used it like I thought I would... totally bummed.
So, since we're moving in a few months, I'm getting rid of all the junk I'm NOT moving, and the electric griddle is in the 'undecided' pile.
Either sell me on it or tell me to donate it!
What would you do? Do you love or hate your electric griddle? Save or donate?
Oh my gosh!! When we have time, I make a big breakfast...so pretty much people get whatever they want. Normally that inclues bacon, pancakes, hashbrowns, and eggs. I use it for ALL of them. It saves me so much time! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!! One of the sides that holds the grease catcher thing broke, so I'll need a new one soon.

I had a Black & Decker one that I bought and used it only twice. It ended up getting donated. I could cook food faster on my stove top griddle. I have a George Forman grill, but only use it once in a while. It's more of a hassle getting it out and putting it back away than to cook the food on a regular pan.

Sounds like you answered your own question. The fact that you have only used it 3 times? So not worth the space it takes. I did like mine, it had interchangeable plates so it turned into an inside grill and something else. But it definitely took up space.

R., I would donate it. I hate my waffle maker the same way; I never use it because it is so hard to clean up. However, I received a Cuisinart Griddler as a gift and LOVE IT. It is an electric griddle/panini maker with removable plates. You can reverse them so they are flat and do grilled cheese, quesadillas, eggs, pancakes, etc. Or flip them and use the grill mark pans for meat, fish, panini. The griddle can lay flat or hinge and close for panini and meat. You can also purchase waffle iron plates to use in it. So it is like a griddle, sandwich maker, waffle iron and George Foreman grill all in one. It has a grease catcher and the plates are removable so you can just throw em into the dishwasher. I would save your money for something like that. :)

I love mine and we use it on a weekly basis for sure. It's a Cuisinart Panini/grill/griddle which lays flat and has interchangeable plates. I don't think it's that bulky but I am most assuredly spoiled with the size of my kitchen. (I have to confess I have 120 sq. ft of countertops and over 30 lower cabinets alone so storage space is not an issue. After three years I still have empty drawers and cabinets.)
Based on your lack of use of the appliance, I would donate it, though. Sometimes you just don't use things and that's all right. Better to make someone else's day than clutter your home no matter how spacious it may or may not be.

Does my George Foreman home grill counts?
If so, then yes. I love it.
When we got it that is all I use, until my family stared to complain and make jokes.
But know that I am trying to lose weight (again!) I am going to start using it again!
I say keep it, when you move you may want to use it again if you have the right neighbors, mine are so into grilling...with the real stuff not my kind, lol.

I love mine.
I use it every Sunday morning. I make pancakes on it. It makes a batch in 1/4 of the time it would take doing 1 at a time in a skillet.
I also use it to make patties. Hamburger, turkey, salmon patties, and crab cakes. That way I dont have to smoosh 4 patties into a round skillet where they cook unevenly and are crowded.
It's great to cook with the kids on it. I can move it to the table and plug it in so it's down at the kids level and I dont have to worry about them being at the stove. They help make grilled cheese sandwhiches, fried eggs, sausages.
You can cook your whole breakfast on one appliance without dirtying 3 pans!
Clean up is easy
I just wipe it down with a paper towel, then run a soapy sponge over it and rinse. I store it standing on it's side in the pots and pans cabinet along with the cookie sheets. It really doesn't take up much space.

Love it - we use it all of the time, breakfasts, lunches (grilled cheeses are so easy on it). We store it in the garage so it doesn't get in the way when it's not being used.
But, if you don't use it, get rid of it! You don't need the clutter!!

We had one, but after a few years thinks started really sticking to it. We got a stove top griddle now. Honestly, I liked the electric one better because I could put it wherever I wanted. I like the stove top one better because it's a billion times easier to clean. So, my answer is.... I don't know. Wasn't this a waste of space?

I love mine! Fastest, easiest way to make several different things. I make pancakes, bacon, and eggs all at once. It's perfect and I only have to wash ONE thing instead of like 4 or 5. It's not hard to clean either just as easy as a frying pan. And I dont think it takes that much space either but thats me. Maybe you dont have big enough cupboard space or something. Or maybe you will after you junk the rest of the stuff! Lol.

I wish I was your neighbor, I would hint I needed a new one. I love mine. It is older and not washable. I still wash it, I just make sure the connection part is above the running water and use a dishrag to wash the griddle part.
I think it depends on your usual menu. If you don't eat many pancakes or other foods that do better cooked on a griddle then it may not be an actual kitchen tool you need. I make pancakes at least twice a month and they only turn out well if I use the griddle. I have a round cast iron one that is way easier to clean and treat but I love the ability to cook lots more food on my electric one.
If you have not used it and you do not see the habit as one that is appealing then find someone like me that would love to have an extra one or a more updated one.
If you have any of those that have the ridges on them for chicken or meat and the plates that heat up do not come out, throw those things away or donate them. They just look rancid to me. They get grease built up in the grooves of the grill and it gets all in the insides...eeeewwwww.

Get rid of it and get a grill pan for the stove top. At least that is me. I had one and used it till it died. But since use my celaphon griddle pan, takes a bit longer and yes I get grease all over when do hamburger patties, but find it easier to wipe down my stove.
Hum, I did use mine all the time. I wonder if I had one would I use it. Better yet I should make hubby grill.

I LOVE my electric griddle. I hardly have to clean it after using it as NOTHING sticks to it! I know it's big and I have a small townhome so storage is an issue - here's the two places I've put it over the years: on top of my refridgerator - or in my buffet on top of my crock pots..........

I have a BIG electric skillet. It DOES take up a lot of room, but I just leave it out on my counter PERMANENTLY because I use it ALL the time-- granted, mostly for grilled cheese or quesadillas, but still....
And most of the time I don't wash it-- just wipe it out good with a paper towel. That's all it needs after grilled cheese or pancakes or quesadillas. Obviously it gets washed after stir fries or scrambled eggs....

LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I have had it for maybe 4 months. I make pancakes every other weekend now (at least). It is so easy to clean - honestly you can just wipe it with a paper towel. The french toast cooks evenly and I can make it all in one batch - no one has to eat the stuff that has been sitting in the warm oven getting soggy.
I have used my grill pan once - complete waste of space IMO. My stove top griddle does not fit my industrial style range so also useless.

LOVE mine, but we have the Cuisinart "Griddler", so the plates are reversible and it's both an indoor grill and a griddle. We use that thing at least three times a week, but if it wasn't a 2-in-1, probably once a month at most.
When we got married, my MIL bought me a large Cuisinart stand mixer. We've been married for nearly six years and I haven't even undone the tape on the box. Can't get rid of it, though, b/c with my luck she will come over one day and look for it!

I think it is awesome for bulk cooking. (I also have a family of five now.) I love mine for all the usual things like..... pancakes, french toast, bacon.... I can also make 2 quesadillas at once on it. Additionally, I sometimes pretend I am a hibachi chef and make fried rice and steak with mushrooms on the griddle. (I do all my cutting on the cutting board, though. Wouldn't want to ruin the finsih on the griddle.) You can also make several panini sandwiches at one time by covering them on the griddle with a sheet pan weighted with a brick. Let cook on one side, flip and weight again. Yum.
I store it on it's side with my cast iron skillet nestled between its legs. (I don't use the cast iron skillet often, but it's useful to keep around.) I don't find it to be a space waster that way.
