Do People Mispronounce Your Name?

My name is L. (rhymes with "sorry") but I get called Lori all the time and sometimes Laura or Lauren. Interestingly enough some people can't hear the difference between L. and Lori even when I try to correct them, so I usually don't bother. In the last few years, when I introduce myself some people think I'm saying "Maurie" which I have no idea why unless Maury Povich popularized the name.
