I had great luck at Hobby Lobby. I think the vases were $1 each. I don't know where you live,but I know there is one in Mt. Prospect and one on south on Harlem near Palos Hights. I am sure they have a web site.

When I got married I found some really nice vases at Ikea. I think I paid about 2.50 a vase then I sold them for about half of what i paid just to recoop some of my costs and get rid of them. You could sell them on Craigslist.com when you're done.

check hobo's, some kind of craft store, dollar store, or on ebaby or there is a website for cancelled weddings called
theregoesthebride.com things are for sale, or go on freecyle.com or org i can't remember someone might have a stash in their basement or craig's list
I know you can get vases at Michaels on Touhy for a good price. I will also call around to some wholesale florists and see if they can order them for you at a discounted rate.
