My best friend just found out her baby has a 2 vessel umbilical cord. Anyone have any experience with this?? Thanks!
Baby was born mostly healthy! She just turned 6 weeks and had a kidney scan. She does have some reflux which was probably caused by the 2 vessel cord. They have an appointment with a Nephrologist.
I know a person who had the same experience as those who have posted. The sonogram tech completely panicked my friend by making a big deal about it. The OB explained more, and had her come in for more frequent monitoring to make sure things were going ok. In the end, she delivered a full-term, healthy baby who is now a perfectly normal 10 year old.
Two of my friends had this. One of them said her doctor advised her to have an abortion! She did not, and delivered a perfectly healthy baby. My other friend had this problem as well. I think she needed closer monitoring, and a lot of non stress tests in the 3rd trimester, but also delivered a healthy baby.
Not personally, but a close friend had this with her second child. It meant more frequent doctor's visits for her, but she had a healthy, full-term baby with no complications.
