Hi Everyone,
My sister is getting remarried and she has two boys. They are being included in the wedding and walking her down the aisle and standing with her for the ceremony but when her and her future husband exchange rings they wanted to give the boys something special at the same time....any suggestions?
Thanks!
The boys are 13 and 9.

What can I do next?

I would give them a ring too. Just so they know that he is not only getting married to their mother but to them as well. So they see and understand that they are as important to him as they are to their mother. And if they can I would do a small inscription in the inside with the date of the wedding, names and a heart or something of the sort :)
Just remember that they don't have to wear it all the time, they can also put it on a chain or necklace and wear it that way :)
Hope this helps

how about an ID bracelet with their names on them or a ring of their own?

How old are they?

I like the idea of inscribed I.D. bracelets. They can wear them then, but they wouldn't have to wear them all the time afterwards.. and likely won't. But they will enjoy having them.. and may come to appreciate them more as they age. Particularly as, hopefully, they become closer to their new step-dad and they bond through the years.

I think that since their mom is getting married, they may feel left out or even abandoned to some point (even if this isn't the case and they're being included in everything, sometimes kids just get to feeling that way).
What I would suggest is a short handwritten note just from their momma telling them how much she loves them and cherishes them. Along with that, maybe a little something from the new stepdad- a note saying he can't wait to throw the ball around, or even a picture of a new bike waiting them at home...
That way they have something lovely and heartfelt from their mom AND something that helps them feel loved and welcomed by their new stepdad.

I just got remarried last August (my boys were 14 and 10 at the time), and they walked me down the aisle. They thought that was really special. They also liked riding in the limo, and dancing at the wedding. I didn't buy them any special gifts, but just including them was enough for them. Looking back at the pictures, and their expressions, I knew that they were very happy.

I had 3 boys when I got married. My husband & I bought them each a necklace. We thought it would be something they could wear in the future (they were young at the time). Maybe your sister & her husband could say something to them, not necessarily to everyone (if the kids are shy), but just something to reinforce that their new step-father will not take their place & will be a part of their lives also. I hope any of this can help! Congrats to your sister!

Gold necklaces (whether white or yellow to match their rings). Like a circle, they are unbroken and go on forever.

It was a second marriage for both my brother and sister-in-law when they were married almost 11 years ago. She had a daughter who was 8 or 9 at the time and my niece was written into the vows. All three said specific vows and then they exchanged rings with a triangular design; first my brother and sister-in-law and then together as parents to my niece.

My brother's ring is a triangular diamond in set in the band. My sister's ring is a triangular diamond surrounded by smaller stones and my niece's ring is 3 small diamonds set in a triangular pattern.

If I was your sister I would talk to the boys about what they would like to receive and give them a choice: a watch or a ring or something else that the family comes up with and agrees upon. Maybe even the boys will invent a different idea that us adults weren't able to see. LOL! =)

Making them a part of the marriage ceremony is really important and will create awesome memories!

My husband had a son whom is now my step son and we wanted him to be as much of a part of our wedding as we were. We got a necklace with each of our birthstones on it to signify our unity and he wears that necklace everyday just like is was a wedding ring. Just a thought. Congratulations and Good Luck.

Depends on what they want to spend. Quality, nice watches, maybe even with an inscription. The good thing about nice watches is that jewelers can take links out so that they fit, but then the links can be saved and added back to the watch once they grow. Every man needs a nice watch eventually, and by the time they are old enough to need one, one that has a special meaning behind it will be all the better.

A neclace to resemble both there love for the boys. Or an id bracelet ingraved, or a pendent with a chain. They could do money olders cuff links, pens, theres all sorts of stuff for boys out there. But if it was me I would do matching gold neclaces or gold rings ingraved.
