Never bothered me. Granted when my oldest noticed and pointed the spray at me, well that crossed a line!
My daughter is almost 3, not yet potty trained. My husband seems to think that it's gross that she pees in the tub, whereas I am unfazed. She obviously has been doing this since being a newborn, as most kids not yet potty trained usually do.
Thoughts?

Even if it weren't sterile, the pee would be very diluted. My son doesn't do this often, but it doesn't phase me ever. Fortunately, he has a great grasp on no poop in the tub!!
If I get stung by a jellyfish.. Yep. Urine isn't bad at all. It's not germy like poop. I heard a joke once. "There are two kinds of people. People who pee in the shower and big fat liars." :)
Tell him not to take a bath with her and that will solve the problem.
Urine is sterile, so germs are not an issue. In an emergency, it's even possible to drink pee. We just get taught from an early age that it's dirty, stinky, possibly disgusting. There are way more germs under DH's fingernails, and he bathes with those attached, right? AND probably puts them into DD's bathwater!
Full disclosure: If I have to pee and am about to take a shower, I hold it and pee in the tub. Saves water and TP!
Thanks for the question. It is great to see everyone's answers. I am not fazed by it, and will pee in the running shower instead of getting out to sit on a toilet. My husband thinks it is gross, but he was raised by a mom who is so clean you can eat of the kitchen floor. My kids will also pee in the shower and I am sure when little peed in the tub water. No big deal in my opinion.
It's not gross. Urine is sterile. Technically, you can drink it. I know it's a gross thought...but scientifically, not that gross. ;)
LOL both my kids (now 3 and 1) would pee pretty much everytime their feet hit the water and you can be sure that I would NOT run a second bath. My 3 yr old is potty trained now so we just put her on the ptty before she jumps in but my 1 yr old still does it
Soap works. There are grosser things on our body's than the pee that comes out of them.
LOL.Doesn't bother me; urine is (usually) sterile. What really gets to me is that my high school age daughter, who does aquatic sports, tells me they pee in the pool regularly. And apparently Olympic swimmers do also.
When we had only one bathroom and our son was potty trained, sometimes the potty was being used when son had to pee.
So I'd have him use the bathtub - stand in it and point at the drain.
The great thing about this was it was so easy to rinse down and there was no way for him to miss or splatter.
For a long time it was a heck of a lot easier and cleaner than when he used the toilet.
I'm agree with others...there are so many other things I would hate to be on or my children to be exposed to & pee isn't one of them.
Urine is sterile and is diluted in the bathwater.
Yep, don't care about pee. As someone else mentioned, you can drink it (it's that clean). I watched Bear Grylls do it on his show... made me want to gag, but hey, if it's all you've got, it's all you've got.
No big deal. I smile and giggle with my kids when they do this : )
we just did this one, didn't we?
i'm with you.

My nephew was taught to use the potty at 3 (this month)...he learned from his mawmaw beiing stern and putting him in the corner.Maybe you should be a little more stern with your daughter about this.I wish you the best of luck! Please answer my question called "Party".
Can you tell when she's doing it? If you can, then you can try and stop her and wisk her onto the potty.Does she know when and what that sensation is? Can you try an encourage her to "go" before the tub?
Also, it's hard for little ones, that nice warm tub, EVERYTHING relaxes. Even as an adult I sometimes get in a nice hot shower and blast it if I don't suddenly need to go. Sometimes just hearing running water gets me. Heh.
Good news, you can use a cup of warm water to encourage pottying. I did it with my daughter, slowly pour the warm water down her spine or front into the potty as she sits.
I'm with your DH. Eeeew, she's 3 yro not 3 months. Also, urine is not sterile. (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/04/120409164156...)
There is a big difference between urine in the bladder and urine that has traveled through the urethra. I know from personal experience. I had kidney disease when I was 4 yro and the first thing the urologist does to check and see if the disease is arrested is to draw it directly from the bladder in order to get a "clean" sample. (This means using a needle.) Once the urine is out of the bladder it picks up all sorts of bacteria. Sure people drink their own urine; however, no one has ever done a full case study on them to see what they die from. Urine is a waste product that the body no longer needs. Your kidneys are there to filter out your blood; otherwise, you'd be one "sick puppy." Why do you think there are signs at public swimming pools denouncing peeing in the pool? Urine carries germs.
The best thing for you to do is to put your daughter on the potty before she takes a bath. You really need to start potty training her, so she's ready for when she starts school. Also, it will give you a "heads up" to have things checked out if she does have a medical problem like I had. You need to show her that going potty is something that is completely natural and everybody does it. You don't need to get adament about it, but you do need to encourage her.
